Hi there,

I have used a Linksys WRT1200AC (Version 2) router for 2 years now with dd-wrt and it ran flawless so far. I however want to give openWRT a go since I like that its easy to update. With DD-WRT I used to reset the device to its defaults and then updated it by flashing the new firmware on it and then basically adjusting all the settings again (recommended procedure by the dd-wrt team, I do know just flashing it might work while keeping the settings). Its just a lot of work and a auto update feature in DD-WRT I guess isn't in planning. Correct me If I am wrong.

I already did some googleing but could not find a good and safe way to return my router back to stock. This is why I hope someone around here may know the answer I seek.

Help is greatly appreciated.

I forgot to mention, since the router has been updated several times already the other boot partition is also already on dd-wrt and not stock anymore.

The router is currently on the following version of dd-wrt: 03-05-2019-r39081

You can use Kong's ddwrt-to-factory firmware.
The original is gone but it's archived here:
https://source.wifihell.com/3-DD-WRT-KONG/K3-AC-MVEBU/LinksysFW/
wrt1200ac v1 & v2 use the same file.
It's best to save a copy of these files locally in case the archive goes down.

Thank you for your reply.

One more question I read this on the forum:
--------------------------
There are two ways.
1. Install latest dd-wrt as Brainslayer included support for flashing Linksys firmware. You download correct version for your router from Linksys and then do an install through the dd-wrt UI.
--------------------------

Is it really possible to simply use a linksys firmware file to flash back to stock straight out of dd-wrt?

thanks for the help!

Hi guys! I'm also trying to revert my WRT1200ACv2 back to stock, but can't seem to find Kong's dd-wrt_to_factory image anymore. Tried flashing directly the stock firmware from DD-WRT GUI, but it won't take it. Both partitions are flashed with WRT btw.

Do you happen to have a copy of Kong's image for rollback or do you know if there is any other method I can try? Thanks!

You didn't mention the build number; I will assume an old build so upgrade first.

Thanks, I managed to upgrade from the DD-WRT GUI, but it only worked without resetting to defaults first (what I did the first time). Anyway, I'm back to stock and preparing to sell this one. Cheers! Smile

Hi,

can anyone supply Kong's dd-wrt to stock firmware? The link mentioned above is broken and I'm unable to find the file elsewhere.

Thanks,

If you are on a more recent release, you do not need that file.
