Need a cheap router to run NordVPN on with openvpn
My connection speed is max 30meg
Bought an asus ac57n only to find out it doesn’t support VPN despite being in Amazon spec and neither can install merlin or dd-wrt on ☹️

I'd say a Netgear R7000 would do the work, and is readily available new or used (online), isn't overpriced (even new), and has lots of info on using it with 3rd party firmware like DD-WRT of course. It's one of, if not the most, used routers for DD-WRT, so if something happens, most likely there is already an answer for that issue. If not, someone is most likely to reply with a idea.
Sure, there are "better" routers, but for the price to usage ratio, the R7000 shines great!

Just had an interesting discussion with someone from Roemenia where an R7000 had the same price as an R7800 , but an R6400v2 with the same CPU as the R7000 was way cheaper.

So check prices of an Netgear R6400v2
So I see that now, and I checked R6400v2 prices online and they're like half the cost of R7000, so would you say it's safe to say that it would make a good client bridge to the R7000 APs I have now? Because I have a few PCs that are running Linksys E3000 client bridges, but if I can swoop a few R6400v2s to replace them and get way better speeds, I'mma go that route. :3
If not, any recommendations for client bridge boxes that support the speeds of the R7000s I have already? _________________ Deployed Routers:

In my opinion the R6400v2 is good value for money.
I have installed one in my 3 story concrete home (concrete floors, stone walls) on the first floor and 2,4 GHz has a good range in the whole house, of course 5 GHz is not, that is only working on the first floor and part of the second floor.

I can not compare an R6400v2 with an R7000 at the moment, the last one I installed has been a while as I am only installing R6400v2 or R7800.
For me there is no place, value wise in the Netherlands, for an R7000 although it is an excellent router.
Awesome, thanks! I'll probably swoop one to give it a test pretty soon, and if all else, I'll use it as a guest router if it doesn't perform for everyday use as a client bridge. :)
Thank you much for the info. :) _________________ Deployed Routers:

get a 2nd hand linksys wrt1200 or r7000 or TP Link archer c9 (v1)
they all support 30mbps vpn speed easy
i am not sure where are you located but if you have any 2nd hand online market places , look for these devices.
the r7000 and archer c9 are basically the same broadcom platform inside, but the c9 is quite cheap 2nd hand here in germany, goes a low as 30~40€, r7000 usually 50~60 Euros , wr1200 usually around 80€, but with a little luck as low and 40-50€
