I upgraded my firmware this morning. Now my router will connect to the VPN server, but I cannot browse the internet. Chrome says "Establishing Secure Connection" before it times out. I am able to ping whatever I want outside my network, but cannot browse the web. Also, games such as LoL will not connect.
Router: Netgear R6300V2
Firmware Version: DD-WRT V3.0-r37305 std (10/10/1
Old Firmware Version: Not sure, but I remember it was dated in 2015 sometime.
Is there some new setting with the upgraded firmware that needs to be changed?
if you do a reset, do not load settings from an old firmware, redo them manually... _________________ Atheros

Stubby DNS over TLS I DNSCrypt v2 by mac913
I did what you said and erased the nvram, then manually entered my config. During the process, I was constantly checking my internet status. I found that the problem began again as soon as I entered anything into "policy based routing" in my openVPN client config. I usually have about 10 ip addresses here, as those are the only devices I want using the VPN. If I leave it empty, everything works fine. When I enter a single IP address (my PC), my PC loses the ability to browse the internet. I can still ping things outside my network though, such as google. Any ideas?
Something kind of worked. I think that what happened was I went and reread some of the replies, and I changed some of the DNS related settings as suggested earlier. At this point I wasn't restarting the modem after every change, so I'm not sure what caused the change. I restarted the router recently, and now I can browse the web while utilizing PBR. However, it has some rather interesting new symptoms. While utilizing the VPN with PBR, my browsing speed seams...choppy. I don't know how else to describe it. Also, I now have DNS Leaks (Found via https://www.expressvpn.com/dns-leak-test). If I browse the web with the PBR field empty, I have no DNS leaks.
