I have tested if the Asus Router RT-AC68U is suitable for FTTH Gigabit connections.
The Asus Router RT-AC68U with DD-WRT (v3.0-r37015M) has a solid WAN to LAN Throughput
(with option "Shortcut Forwarding Engine" enabled)
WAN-LAN: 850 MBit/s
LAN-LAN: 950 MBit/s
Router: ASUS RT-AC68U
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r37015M kongac (09/23/18) - http://www.desipro.de/ddwrt/K3-AC-Arm/dd-wrt.v24-K3_AC_ARM_STD.bin
Option: "Shortcut Forwarding Engine" Enabled
Tested also successfully QoS and OpenVPN Server/Client connections with "Shortcut Forwarding Engine" enabled.
Note: With disabled "Shortcut Forwarding Engine" the WAN-LAN performace is much lower: ~300-400Mbit/s
Info: The Firmware "DD-WRT v3.0-r37015M kongac (09/23/18)" is stable
(successfully tested on multiple ASUS RT-AC68U routers over months)
