Hi everyone, for some time I have noticed that Davidc502 has included in its builds of Lede (openwrt) the new wifi driver. I wonder why Brainslayer hasn't done it yet. Will he have noticed this change? What do you think?
It depends on how new of a driver you're talking about. Back in December, a wifi driver was updated that removed many of the functions which users found useful including packet compression and noise immunity. If there is another driver update, it could be simply because including an update means updating the kernel or modules with said update. If you take a page out of a certain common OSes book, you'll find that each update brings with it its own problems. Only after extensive testing and verification that things work properly should such an update be implemented.
Might I inquire as to how you verified the driver version for the Wi-Fi?

DD-WRT and OpenWrt both pull from the mwlwifi open source driver. This driver is 'complete' according to Marvel which means, while these devices have a ton of potential are unlikely to ever improve further according to Wi-Fi. Probably best to avoid Linksys or Marvel products in the future because of this.
