Problems and workarounds:
1) When VAP is not working at boot; workaround startup command:
sleep 10; stopservice nas; stopservice wlconf; startservice wlconf; startservice nas;
2) Aternative way to get VAP working: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=317181
3) An other user reports the following workaround (save as startup):
sleep 4; stopservice cron; stopservice wlconf; wlconf eth1 up; wlconf eth2 up; startservice cron;
https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=319412
4)This one is from @Redhawk (guaranteed to work Wink ):
sleep 20; stopservice nas; wlconf eth1 down; wlconf eth2 down; wlconf eth1 up; wlconf eth2 up; startservice nas

This build thread is for reporting successes and problem with loading this experimental test build. This is important info for developers and users. Always state your hardware and SPECIFIC build (e.g. 29440_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv64k.bin). Do not ask questions about your specific router or how to configure it in this thread; create your own thread to discuss any specific problems you have or need resolved. Please also do not respond to such questions. I really cannot believe anyone ever reads this. This thread is to report info, not to seek it. Posts that do not add to understanding this build will be deleted. Make sure you know how to flash properly and the risk before using this build. It is important to adhere to these requirements, to keep this thread from becoming impossibly long and useless. If you don't know what build to flash and how to flash properly and have a means of recovery if things should go wrong, do NOT flash this experimental test build. _________________ Forum Guide Lines(with helpful pointers about how to research your router, where and what firmware to download, where and how to post and many other helpful tips!) For me the last build with working bridged VAP is r38580M (02/05/19) on Netgear r6300v2
Upgraded from 39830M without reset this time.
ddup --flash-latest is working now but the WAN(ISP) lease,
the remaining time is still broken and showing only zeroes.
<Kong> please fix this as it's important to me to know how and when the ISP lease gets renewed.
Firmware Version: DD-WRT v3.0-r39855M kongac (05/25/19)
Kernel Version: Linux 4.4.180 #662 SMP Sat May 25 15:26:57 CEST 2019 armv7l
Upgraded: from DD-WRT v3.0-r39830M kongac (05/21/19) via ddup --flash-latest
Reset: No, not this time
Status: Up and running for 12 hours, basic setup as Gateway, static leases, OpenVPN client (on PIA) with Policy Based Routing up and running, 2,4GHz, 5Ghz USB storage NAS and miniDLNA working, OpenVPN server working,
PBR working with standard SFE!!! Speed with SFE is very good
R7000
DD-WRT v3.0-r39855M kongac (05/25/19)
Linux 4.4.180 #662 SMP
Previous FreshTomato 2019.2
Full nvram reset before and after kong flash and manual config.
Flashed from web interface
Errors:
- Using a Huawei E8732 HiLink 4G Modem, which is activated on startup with the following script:
Code:
# 4G - Huawei E8372
insmod usbnet
insmod cdc_ether
usb_modeswitch -v 12d1 -p 1f01 -J
sleep 5
ip link set eth3 up
ip addr add 192.168.8.100/24 brd + dev eth3
The modem exposes itself as a virtual ethernet interface, and has an IP of 192.168.8.1
Running a continuous ping from router SSH to 192.168.8.1 shows packet loss that happens randomly every 10-15 seconds for the duration of 10-15 seconds. USB net seems not stable. When setting 192.168.8.1 as the default gateway and using internet through the modem, the same problem manifests, a ping to any site will hang every 10-15 seconds for a few seconds. Using the modem directly in a machine or using the modem's own directly exposed WiFi AP to connect shows no problem, indicating it is not a problem with my cellular coverage or with the modem.
Maybe related: I'm also using a USB Flash Memory as /opt and it seems to have an abnormally low write / read performance under DD-WRT than FreshTomato.
Only thing in syslog is this message that appears:
Code:
cdc_ether 1-1:1.0 eth3: kevent 12 may have been dropped
But it only appears once and not during the duration of the packet loss.
I checked lsusb -t and I see:
Code:
/: Bus 04.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci_hcd/1p, 5000M
/: Bus 03.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci_hcd/0p, 480M

|__ Port 2: Dev 2, If 0, Class=Mass Storage, Driver=usb-storage, 480M
Will be happy to provide any further info.
EDIT: This problem is still present on: DD-WRT v3.0-r37015M kongac (09/23/18 ) Kernel version: 4.4.157 #603.
- Other error: The VAP non-working on settings save, but the workaround in the first post works.
