Hi all. I don't see any tp-link range extenders in the supported hardware database. I assume they can work, because most of the older models are listed on OpenWRT.

But I gather that there may not be completely FOSS drivers for the MT7615 yet, which is why I'm back here.

It's this beasty
https://wikidevi.com/wiki/TP-LINK_RE650_v1.x

Firmware Version: 1.0.6 Build 20180719 Rel. 36926(6583)
Hardware Version: RE650 v1.0

If it might be possible, or would be useful, I'm more than happy to pull it apart and take photos and whatever else might be needed...

Cheers,

Hi all,
Anyone to help on this matter ?

Hi Jaymax,
Did you get any feedbacks (pm or whatever) ?

I have 3 RE650 wired & used as AP that I would like to flash with dd-wrt too.

Have a nice day!

If it's not listed here: https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices

then someone needs to sacrifice a device and donate it for the cause:

Hi kernel-panic69,

Thanks for your reply.

I am considering buying a used RE650 to send to DDWRT.

But I am sure sending them this piece of hardware is not a commitment on their side to develop the appropriate firmware. I mean, they need to have ressources (poeple) on their side to work on it & it may be difficult to deal with some hardwares...

Any guess what are chances they develop the firmware once I shipped them ?

Thanks,
R

There is no “they”. It’s one guy, brainslayer and chances are slim as he hasn’t even released firmware for routers he does have already.
