Kernel Version: Linux 4.4.177 #650 SMP Wed Apr 3 20:04:03 CEST 2019 armv7l
Upgraded: DD-WRT v3.0-r36440M via telnet (update via GUI or ddup –flash-latest not possible because nvram is placed on linux partition and not linux2 partition due to Xvortex CFE)
Reset: No
Configuration: AP, DHCP server, 2,4GHz wireless running, 5GHz running, some static leases and some port range forwarding, SFE on, NVRAM size just 32K (NVRAM size should not be a problem with the Xvortex CFE)
Status: Up and stable for 1 week, excellent wireless speed and range
Errors: none so far

Last working fw with working WDS as worked out in the how-to's is 35550M. I have a feeling that WDS still works but you may have to try a bunch of things with GUI, and after like 20 yrs with dd-wrt, I ain't got no time for that nonsense anymore.

Just an update...
With 71/2 days uptime, 2 different Winddows10 laptops lost connectivity to internet & gui, on 2.4G & 2.4G VAP. While router showed them as connected.
No load or memory issue shown in router's status page.
Nor anything useful/out of the ordinary in the log.
Forget network & rejoin fixed it on one... The other would not reconnect saying wrong password? for both main & VAP. Also tried rebooting computer with no change in results.
A reboot of router fixed it?
Wired & 5G did not seam to be effected.
Yes there is one newer build available... but I still use DNSCrypt which appears to have been removed with no viable/comparable replacement option available, least none that I've seen at the router level? _________________ Location 1

5 days uptime... Happened again... Only on 2.4G & 2.4G VAP
This time on 2 different version/brand android devices...
Same thing, router shows no error or load... One device wouldn't renew it's connection repeatedly claiming wrong password, while other finally reconnected after the 8th or 10th attempt... Reboot instantly fixes it.
Did not check any Window's devices before reboot.. This time.
I'm sure it was just me.. doing something like expecting to use my network with multiple devices... Just sucks when my year old build worked so well. _________________ Location 1

@Dr_K, <Kong> released another test build on 20 April: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=319525 ... might resolve some issues, maybe not? I can understand the DNSCrypt thing, though. But I've learned, sometimes you have to break some things to actually fix them....
With 7 1/2 days uptime, 2 different Winddows10 laptops lost connectivity to internet & gui, on 2.4G & 2.4G VAP. While router showed them as connected.
.....I'm sure it was just me.. doing something like expecting to use my network with multiple devices
There are over 40 devices connected during the day here, at this time of night there is still about 30.
There is about 65 static leases in mine (nvram set/commit so they are in the GUI after).
There is some wireless things currently connected for almost 10 days, which is the last time I rebooted the router (config changes). In the evening there is double this number of wifi clients.
I haven't had any issues with anything connecting, and staying connected, no problems at all, and there is a LOT of stuff here, running r39345M since April 9. I'm pretty sure it's not the number of devices that's causing problems for you
Maybe try turn off some of the more exotic options? (DNSSEC , DNSCrypt, VAP jump out at me here, Remove custom from dnsmasq.conf etc...) and see if that makes it more stable?
Even QOS, not really mandatory, just prune down your options closer to "stock" until it's stable again, then re enable them one at a time until you find what's causing it.
if all else, maybe a reset might help you here too, start again & enable all your custom options a couple at a time ...( ick, lol ) ... good luck.

While I do appreciate your input... It would appear that you are just merrily rubbing in the fact that your stuff works & mine sporadically does not.
I also have 40 or more static leases with many connected most of the time....I also have another network with nearly a mirrored setup & similar work load...
Never Did I claim that I thought that the router was overloaded by 2 clients, But merrily describing my odd issue...that would appear to be new (at least to me) using this firmware version.

Now seriously...lets look at this with "reality glasses".
In my post (that you conveniently trimmed down).. I clearly stated that each time this situation arisesed, 5G & wired LAN did not appear to be effected..
So, please do explain your theory on how "DNSSEC , DNSCrypt or Even QOS" could possible contribute to my clearly described situation?
Especially the inconsistent wrong password part, until the router reboots.
As far as "VAP", while I do have always connected devices (that need internet that I don't want touching My personal network). It mostly goes unused until "Guests" come over or for my daughter to easily circumvent my MAC based Access Restrictions rules (but that is a whole other Bullcrap un=acknowledged/un-addressed flaw in the implementation of Access Restrictions).
The use of it, as described in my 2 posts was merrily as a test to try to get the (if you truly fallowed along) 4 different devices to somehow get reconnected &/or get internet access.
The common denominator being anything related to 2.4G wireless.
Also, I never stated that I tested every single device that connects.
As far as my dnsmasq.custom file...
1. I use it mostly to keep some of my settings in non volatile memory (USB), to avoid overusing the precious NVRAM & to aid me in the whole reset/rebuild process.....which still sucks IMA.
2. Used to store all my static leases...For reasons stated in #1. & eliminate the cravats of adding, deleting & editing them when using the gui/NVRAM method. (that have been pointed out & gone unaddressed for many years now).
3. To implement my custom add blocker.
Again, all of which are used on multiple networks...
None of which single out/address the 2.4G wireless exclusively/independently.

Yea, thanks for that...While I'm not going to argue the fact.
I was only providing information regarding my unique findings...& I did clearly state (even in what you chose to quote), that this is no doubt my fault/something I did.
FYI...it happened again while I was in the middle of writing this post on a 2.4G connected Windows10 laptop...logging in to router from a different device connected by 5G to reboot router, fixed it...Fun Times... _________________ Location 1

No, wrong conclusion, I'm not like that. I spent an hour of my evening responding to your post that we have similar environments, starting a dialog, to try be helpful to you, nothing else. My next step was going to be enabling DNSSEC, DNSCrypt to see if either affected my own stability.
<--- joined: 2007. 12yrs... this type of response is exactly why I read all, but post little.
I sincerely do hope you solve your issue. _________________ DD-WRT v3.0-r40270M kongac Netgear R7000

Hummm.....My conclusions are typically based on details & facts...
Some of which I though I clearly laid out?
Spare me the high & mighty "born on date" of your membership...
Some of us have been here observing & learning (for just as or nearly as long) by reading responses to even dumber questions than our own by even less knowledgeable people that feel the need to join & ask what they could normally find the answer to on their own.
Instead holding off to join until they felt they atleast had enough knowledge to possibly contribute to this or other great boards of information.
Thanks for your "sincerity"... but an oldtimer/knowledgeable person as yourself...should know that this is not a help thread.
Instead one to share findings, potentially specific to a particular build... In hopes that it may get noticed, by the few people that matter, to potentially better this great firmware option.
FYI...my "unique" issue does at least appear to be somewhat realted to other current posts on these forums.
Also, by a quick comparison of our signatures... I have doubts on the "similarity" of our "environments" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My apologies to the forum & devs for entertaining/being apart of this now off topic. _________________ Location 1
