Good day, I believe I should have come here earlier but seemed somehow simple enough for my IT skills.
Bought the router but then was tired of the somehow limited functionality of it. Stumbled on a few thread that explained how to upgrade to dd-wrt, and then this is where everything started falling apart.
1) Followed a thread that explained how to use the approx 10 MB image through the GUI of linksys. Did it the recommended way, wired and all. Seemed to work fine. Logged to dd-wrt, set up everything saved, power down router and installed back at its place. But then I could not access it remotely, had to reset, setup again, same thing. Did this several time with no effect. I then decided to try the reset to factory default in dd-wrt. Mistake no 1.
2) Following that, seemed that the router was bricked. Power on would only lead to 1 blue led and 1 orange led lite up. I found some post here and there talking about using usb to ttl to access the router and push the image. I skip the part of the story I ordered a CP210x. Then I used a FL232RL. Was able to gain access to the router tried to push the DD-WRT image then reboot and then nothing. Tried the same with stock firmware same. Then tried to see what was happening while booting. I was getting a
"Bad Linux ARM zImage magic!"
Learned from my first mistake, not doing anything else without some backup. I have seen some other thread talking of reseting U-boot or restoring it. I tried the reset but it did nothing more then to scare me since prompt Venom was not there anymore. Thought I had lost it, but not.
I don't care to which firmware I fall back to, I only wish not to end up with an expensive paperweight. Playing with u-boot seem the last resort and will go there only with some help.
Thanks in advance,

i assume you have you tried switching partitions?
by what you have written you should still have stock venom on one partition.
if you power router on wait for power light to come on then as soon as it goes out power off, do this 3 times total then on the 4th time let it boot.
If you haven't tried it may save you some time and a lot of effort.
if you have tried the above, just make sure when you're flashing the venom image on it's the flat image not one downloaded from Linksys website.
also may help if you posted some putty output.

If you manage to get back into stock (Venom), via the tripple toggle technique, then make sure that you read the following thread in its entirety before trying DD-WRT again: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=315569 _________________ Linksys WRT32X v1 - r45677
Linksys WRT1900AC v1 - r45677
TP-Link Archer C9 v1 - r45677
Firmware: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2021/
Tried it before and fif not work and, the procedure I followed to flash the firmware was giving a command to push both images.

Tried it anyway and same result

Checking the link and the guide posted by spuriousoffspring, it points to Linksys website, which is the image I used. I am confused. If not this one then which one?

Got it... I somehow found such an image in another post and just tried it. It got back to normal. Thanks a lot. I guess I got confused between using the linksys image through uboot and the image through the DD-WRT.
