I have an old Asus RT-N13U B1 which I managed to upgrade to the latest v3.0-r39654 std (04/25/19). I tried to set up a WireGuard EoIP tunnel between this one and a Dlink DIR-862L r39296 std. In the protocol field of Asus I can only choose RFC3378 or Mikrotik. WireGuard is not available. On DLink tho, I can select and configure WireGuard tunnel options too.
Is WireGuard tunnel not available for Ralink hardware?
But then I also tried WireGuard with Asus RT-N16 (which is Broadcom) and couldnt see it there either, only RFC 3378 and Mikrotik.
Is there a reason why there's no WireGuard support on Asus hardware?
AFAIK, Wireguard is NOT a fully developed feature of dd-wrt (and it doesn't help that Wireguard itself is still in development). I think BS pulled it at some point. I tried it myself on one of my spare routers (RT-AC68U) and have lots of problems. One of the worst is the creation of the EoIP tunnel seemed to hang the router, and the GUI became unresponsive, as if the CPU was running at 100%.
FWIW, in my personal opinion, Wireguard is NOT ready for prime time on the dd-wrt platform. At best, it's a WIP (work in progress). And certainly not something I would run a production system on at the current time.
