Tried this build on my DIR-882. As casualtester said about two of the previous builds, it doesn't work at all. After flashing completes all LED's go out for an extended period, if you wait long enough the first two lights do come back on but the 2.4 and 5Ghz lights stay off, interfaces were name ath0 and ath1 instead of the usual wl0 and wl1. It also said "LEGACY" in the Info section instead of the usual HT20/HT40 etc..
Reverted back to an earlier build, everything seems ok now.
Is here anyone willing to help me making my own build of dd-wrt for this DIR-882 router ?
(So I'd possibly avoid wasting a month rediscovering all the tricks myself)
Sorry kabi, wish I could help but that's beyond my knowledge atm. I wouldn't know where to start tbh, if someone could start me off in the right direction I'd like to learn too though.
BTW new builds that currently arent working are using 4.14 kernel on DIR878/882, while there where using 3.10 before... considering so many of us have random problems with 3.10 kernel / mt_wifi and router restarting lets hope BS can make this 4.14 on our dlinks work!
Well for me the release v3.0-r39296 works 'reasonably' well as long as I'm not constantly testing WiFi quality with iperf
I'd probably also do a benchmarking with the official firmware from D-Link to have comparison, but for my use-case - the most wanted feature is 'ssh' login which is not not provided by anything else then ddwrt ATM.
So yeah - it can likely crash upon longer very heavy load - but I'd say the standard net traffic of my family it works well - I've already 5-day uptime so I'd not say it's frequently restarting.
My biggest issue is the 'bloatware' in the current ddwrt image - which is missing usable DLNA & USB printing support on the other hand...
