It being around April 1st, this whole 'vacation' thing, and going public with modified OpenWRT development... I think we may have been trolled and punk'd....
Kong at least tried to add some quality/stability, I dont agree personally with the permanent beta status of DDWRT, e.g. only yesterday I soft bricked my RT-N16 simply by hitting save to save a setting in DDWRT which made me grab the 'stable' build of openwrt for it which has worked absolutely fine. I feel DDWRT need to change their stance on stable polished releases. Kong probably felt he was in a constant battle.
Of course for broadcom devices if you want wifi then openwrt is a no go.
The openwrt UI also has AJAX support and looks better on modern displays. I dont know what to sugegst the path DDWRT should take but I feel modernising the UI a bit and changing their stance on perpetual beta would go a long way.
Also thanks to the people in this thread mentioning which firmware's were stable for them on the AC68 I grabbed those versions and and thanks to the guy maintaining the mirror of old releases.
