Hi guys,

I have a WRT54GL wireless router with DD-WRT v24-sp2 (10/10/09) std(SVN revision 13064) hooked up to a Motorola Surfboard SB5101 modem.

Long story short, I can never access the modem's 192.168.100.1 address. If I want to access this page, I have to swap ethernet cables every time so that my computer is directly connected to the modem (and not the router). Only then I can access 192.168.100.1.

However, at my buddy's house, we are always able to access 192.168.100.1. He has a WRT54G router with oem (original, non-ddwrt) firmware.

Is this a limitation of the WRT54GL, the dd-wrt firmware, or both? Also, is there anything I can do that will allow me to access the modem's page without swapping cables?

Thanks in advance!

Try the following steps to login into the 192.168.100.1 :

1. Open the local browser on your system. We recommend that you use Google Chrome.

2. In the address bar, just like you enter a URL, you need to enter the https://192.168.100.1, before doing so make sure it is the correct IP to be used when accessing your default router login IP. You can get it checked from the router’s manufacturers site.

3. In case you wish to change this IP address due to address clash. There are two ways to change it

Using the web page settings

Using a setup CD

There area also other similar router ip address like 192.168.1.254

Also, make sure you have the SB connected to the GL's WAN port...not LAN port. I got burned by that once upon a time.

Code:
ifconfig `nvram get wan_ifname`:0 192.168.100.2 netmask 255.255.255.0
