msoengineer its quite confusing to who your post
is directed to...but i can confidently say in regards
of 1043 v3 that it doesn't have QAM 256 as well
i do have v2 witch shares the same hardware and i experienced the same Wi-Fi issues on it, consider the last BS build... had to revert to a 38326 and its fine...
I do know my Wi-Fi setting very very well....indeed...

@Alozaros-Well I guess I could have been very very specific and said @commodore, but I though by having his quote it would be clear...ASS U ME.....I was trying to help others out too, who actually read stuff to learn about why they can't seen to get 800Mbps@2.4ghz speeds on their devices...Horse and water I guess...just drown the animal... Embarassed Laughing

So @Commodore....looks like others are having your issues too....Revert back to 38326

Router / Version: TL-WR1043ND V1
Firmware: 38381
Previous: 36104
Reset: yes
Problems / Errors: I had some 2017/04 build before that had some issue with upgrading so i bought a USB to TTL converter and tried this 38381 build and was so confused on why it wasn't working.

After that tried OpenWRT and the stock firmware and they both worked, later found this https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=314104&view=next&sid=19493fad83dafd9f29c11784e39aa09d

And someone there said that the last working build for TL-WR1043N v1 is 36104. So i tested it and yea 36154 didn't work and 36104 worked.

I can give more info if you explain how to get it. I guess i can try 38381 again and give all of the logs from Serial Terminal.

Status: So far, it's running fine. I'll do more tests. The SQM / FQ_CODEL function is better than the stable version (28-10-10 / 2018). That was one of the reasons I used this trial version. If the DD-WRT team achieved a SQM / FQ_CODEL performance equal to the LEDE 17.05 / 18.06 it would really be a GREAT achievement. But it's good.
Reset: No.
Errors: No. Until now. I feel that the internet has been a bit slower. But it is acceptable.

sorry the bad english. I'M brazilian.

One note: HSFC is better than HTB here in my setup. Modem bridge + Router with DD-WRT + Router AP WIFI.
HSFC was EXTREMELY superior to HTB, HTB gives several 'SPIKES' in connection latency for no reason at all. with HSFC this does not occur, the connection becomes very stable. I achieved performance equal to / greater than LEDE 17.05.

Hmm, not sure if this makes sense - lack of QAM256 (didn't find any related setting) makes wifi "disappear" if I'm using whitelist and no-broadcast SSID? As for HT40, I'm away iOS devices don't support it, but some others did, though.
Well, I put 38326 on the router, but there was no wifi as well, so I'm back at 37736...

Looks like this might be a common issue.

The only clients I have that will take HT40 are a new Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 with ??? wifi chipset (likely QCA) I get 400Mbps connection rates (qam256), and my intel chipsets on laptops (3160=150Mbps,7260=300Mbps, 8260=300Mbps). All other Android devices get HT20 to "play nice" in the 2.4ghz spectrum with neighbors wifi.
