As title says, i am trying to flash a Kong build dd-wrt.K3_R8000.chk on Netgear R8000 running stock Netgear firmware ver V1.0.4.28_10.1.54 and when i try flashing it from the Netgear gui i get an error message saying The firmware is not compatiable with your router. Error code -1.

It is not R8000P model

Any advice please?

There are threads about this I think.
It could be that the router is locked.
Things to try:
    Use TFTP to flash
Use NMRPFlash to flash (see my signature for the R6400v2, in the second post is the unbricking guide)
    Downgrade firmware
    Serial

Hi
Thanks for your reply
yes found a thread about this here https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=315110&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

my apologise i should have searched more before posting

had to open the r8000 connect serial ttl cable get to CFE then enter "flash -noheader : flash1.trx" then same time run tftpd with a .bin file
if i used .chk file i got Checking crc...Invalid boot block on disk and stopped booting at tftp server
funny enough i had tried an earlier stock firmware .chk file and it still wouldnt boot with Invalid block error
so Netgear messed around with something hope this is not going to be the case for all new netgear stock firmware accross the range R7000 R7800 etc
