So I have this Netgear R7500 v1 and I'm not too happy, it has a tendency to drop my wifi connections, I'm thinking of getting a TP-Link Archer C7 AC1750 (v5 if possible ), is this a bad idea, or should I go for another one, like the Asus RT-AC66U?
mostly I just need it to Bridge between my wifi and ethernet cable, so I can use my movie server and chrome cast. the range of the Netgear was just fine. hope you smart guys can

That router have a strange wifi 5 Ghz radio not supported by dd-wrt.
The V2 of the R7500 have that corrected.
TP-link routers have to small flash chips.
The Asus RT-AC66U A1 is a single core processor. It's out of production.
The Asus RT-AC66U B1 is actually a RT-AC68U, sold to RT-AC66U customers as a replacement unit because the A1 is out of stock. Consider if you get one for a good price.

okay, I figured that the v1 had that problem.
so an RT-AC66U B1 / RT-AC68U at a fine price = get it!
