still a huge a mess & stripped, fragmented hostapd everywhere, missing nearly all 802.11v support when cheap routers out of box now a days have it.. k4.x qos problem isnt fixed on bs builds whatsoever. PIE is still missing since the k4.x switch, U-APSD missing.

will the rest of routers like dir_862L ever get 802.11r, w, wpa3 etc..? wtf already

At this point, why don't you just save yourself the headache and get an EdgeRouter and a Unifi AP?

do you think there are no issues there ?? How often they update their software? Can they beat the spec/price of R7800 ??

what kernel do they use ???

Router Model TP-Link WR1043ND V2
Firmware Version DD-WRT v3.0-r37932 std (12/08/1Cool
Kernel Version Linux 3.18.128 #27464 Sat Dec 8 03:33:06 GMT 2018 mips

there is something dodge with 37908 & 37932 on my 1043v2 Wi-Fi drops if clients are not using it about X amount of time, httpd is very broken and very slow and WiFi nasty printer randomly connects/disconnects too

briefly tried 37932 same issues just httpd is a touch better but i'm planning to revert to 37582 or 37882 witch ware ok in my case...

tatsuya46 just to let you know 1043v2 has wpa3 as an option...it has the same SoC like 862l
sadly i don't have a client to test it nor i use WDS or any other WiFi devices that support it around...

You've been able to get DD-WRT into a TP-Link TL-WR1043? If so, please tell me how you did it. Just tried to load 37882 (which you said worked for you) via both the Web GUI and TFTP, and could not do it. (I have a v5 here.)

It is enterprise grade stability at a consumer price point. You can Google all of that.

Just saying, you've been posting the same tickets for the past 2 years now and they haven't been fixed. I disagree about it being expensive and week. $150 and you have a great router and an AP. Just curious, what features are they missing that you're looking for?

the qos we have, i need it exactly as is, with serivces/ports priority, download limits, upload limits, per mac, per ip, per interface, selection of htb/hfsc, pie/fq_codel etc (more would be nice). wifi client mode, wds ap/sta. dnsmasq adblocking. a decent wifi feature set (power saving, 802.11k/v/r etc). virtual aps while in client modes, probably more im forgetting.

needs to be powerful enough to take 150mbps+ with qos too.

ddwrt claims to have all i and others want, now if the features that are the point of the firmware, would be fixed.. properly.. (check some of the tickets, and the shit replies i get back when/if i get one like the channel list ticket)

Ahhh gotcha, yeah QOS is lacking in the Unifi/Edgerouter world still. I've been reading through your tickets for a while (used to have them setup in an RSS feed Razz) and that's why I suggested it. Hopefully DDWRT comes around. It's still my go to for everyone else.

Decided to enable 802.11r/ Fast BSS Transition on all 4 routers on WDS Lan. Turns out I had misidentified a Nas Identifier when I tried it at inception and had trouble. Seems ok this time around. Thank You BS et al.

Bushant, I had two questions for you: 1) what benefits does 802.11r fast transition have in a WDS LAN setup? Not being too familiar with WDS, I thought it would create a linked network in which the multiple APs would work together to drop/pickup client seamlessly and B) having tried to turn on 802.11r on my R7500v2, it always became buggy after several hours--what settings did you configure (also in the custom config box) on the wireless security page when turning on 802.11r?

Thank you!

I have so far seen no benefit. I am fairly sure we have no clients that support it. What little I have read seems that it applies mostly to Apples. We have no Apples.
We did just buy two new HP laptops that might support but not really roaming with them and I have not been able to get wireless working on mine booted on Kubuntu. Weekend project.
I have nothing additional yet, not even enabled 802.11w Mgmt Frame Protection yet. Going to do that right now. Been going at this kind of slow to verify what went wrong when/if it does. All these builds have been happening so fast there has been little time to judge them. I am staying right here awhile to get a handle on this.
