Always state your hardware and SPECIFIC build (e.g. 29440_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv64k.bin). Do not ask questions about your specific router or how to configure it in this thread; create your own thread to discuss any specific problems you have or need resolved. Please also do not respond to such questions. This thread is to report info, not to seek it. Posts that do not add to understanding this build will be deleted. Make sure you know how to flash properly and the risk before using this build. It is important to adhere to these requirements, to keep this thread from becoming impossibly long and useless. If you don't know what build to flash and how to flash properly and have a means of recovery if things should go wrong, do NOT flash this experimental test build. _________________ Forum Guide Lines(with helpful pointers about how to research your router, where and what firmware to download, where and how to post and many other helpful tips!) VAP WORKS !!! This one is a landmark build (Thanks to grc and pix5650 for pointing out)
Router: R6400v2, board xxxx30
Kernel: Linux 4.4.164 #614 SMP Sun Nov 25 22:32:22 CET 2018 armv7l
Status: Just loaded. Announcing VAP Works
Reset: No. Absolutely dirty loading. Web Upgrade from 37715 without reset
Errors: Dont know yet. Just loaded less than 5 mins ago and posting to announce to the community that VAP works again. If there is no negative comment in EDIT/ADD section below - then 'No Errors Noticed' and rest of the review should be treated like in case of 37715 - which was just gr8.
Thanks to Kong & BrainSlayer for being the Water and Oxygen for dd-wrt.
About VAP on this build:
This works without Quarkysg's patch (Thanks QSG for the support). I have rebooted my router twice to check just this important function. Works like before but needs a ~30 sec time lag to get started.
>>>>>>> Just night/stealth mode remains in my wish-list. (knock-knock .... hope someone is listening)
EDIT/ADD: erased nvram, deleted Quarky's wlconf file from router and made settings again. wl0.1 on br2 and wl1.1 on br3 - both bridges with DHCP enabled. Observations:
* wl1.1 was connecting. (Need to wait around 30 secs after this SSID shows up). Survived 3 reboots.
* wl0.1 was visible but devices were not connecting. Manually restarting wlconf solved the issue. This needed to be done after every reboot, so I added the following lines to command >> startup and VAP works (without patched wlconf file).
stopservice nas; stopservice wlconf; wlconf eth1 up; wlconf eth2 up; startservice nas
devs can make whatever they make of it. May be as simple as adding code to restart nas and wlconf as last step after reboot. Others please corroborate these findings. _________________ PROFESSIONAL STUDENT my.Mistakes ∝ my.Learning ... provided I have the patience & persistence to learn

quarkysq work-around is still in effect with my setup with bridged VAPs. I have 5 SSIDs Bridged to VLANs (VAPs are WL0.1 + WL0.2 +WL1.1). Last working build without work-arounds was 36070M.
Router: #1 R7000 Gateway
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r37845M kongac (11/25/18) (from r37715MM)
Kernel: Linux 4.4.164 #614 SMP (from Linux 4.4.163 #609 SMP) 19:40:59 CET 2018 armv7l

Errors: None that effect operation
Work-Around: custom openvpn client requires modprobe tun at Startup

Work-Around #1: custom openvpn client requires modprobe tun at Startup
Work-Around #2: Working 3 VAPs with quarkysg's VAP solution
I was pretty much stuck at build 36070M until I tested quarkysg work-around for Bridged VAPs. Many thanks to quarkysq!

Hi,
My apologies for repeating this post from another thread, but this is specifically pertaining to this build and I consider it very important to mention here as well for all interested:
HURAAAAAY!!!!
I can confirm: My bridged VAPS, both 2.4 & 5.0 GHz are working again, on Netgear R7000 with this Kong's test build v3.0-r37845M.
I have not tried un-bridged settings (neither any other tests).
However, I have to agree with quarkysg (https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=317181&start=45), on this:
"I don't see any source code commits that could have changed anything. Unless Kong changed his codes without committing it back into the SVN repo, I'm at a loss to explain how it suddenly worked with his latest builds."
Unless there was a process (something) interfering (conflicting) with WPA supplicant.
