Hi,

When no sufficient space for JFFS exists, and when no USB port is available, the only solution is a Network Filesystem for supporting additional storage.

However, the cifs and/or NFS drivers are huge. So, no option for 4MB FLASH devices.

But, I do some tests with the AoE driver (aka ATA-over-Ethernet). This protocol, like iSCSI, enables a BLOCK storage over Network. Futhermore, the driver is included in all current kernel (3.x and 4.x) and it has a very small footprint (around 8-10KB only).

So, I suggest to enable/compile the module ("ATA_OVER_ETH=m") inside the firmware. Then using a simple "insmod aoe.ko" you can connect to a simple block device served by a user-space tool like "vblade".

Please, consider it!
