Hi,
A while back I tried to revert my WRT32X running DD-WRT to factory and soft-bricked it.
Somehow I managed to get it running as a WRT3200ACM which has actually been a better experience, but my end goal is to run DD-WRT now it's a bit more stable.

So, my question is, do I flash DD-WRT as the WRT3200ACM or can I flash the WRT32X version?
I do have a USB to Serial cable should I mess up again, just trying to avoid a whole world of hurt again.

Thanks in advance,
J

You now have a WRT3200ACM partition layout, co flash DD-WRT for WRT3200ACM.

I strongly recommend returning the u-boot environment variables to a stock WRT32X and then flashing stock Venom firmware on one partition and DD-WRT on the alternate.
That’s the way I would do it to avoid any problems now and in the future.

If I've done my homework correctly, this would be the correct way to get back yes?

setenv mtdparts 'mtdparts=armada-nand:2048K(uboot)ro,128K(u_env),256K(s_env),256K@8064K(devinfo),123m@9m(firmware1),123m@132m(firmware2)'
setenv priKernAddr 0x0900000
setenv altKernAddr 0x8400000
setenv altFwSize 0x7b00000
setenv priFwSize 0x7b00000
setenv nandboot 'setenv bootargs console=ttyS0,115200 root=/dev/mtdblock6;nand read $defaultLoadAddr $priKernAddr $priKernSize; bootz $defaultLoadAddr'
setenv altnandboot 'setenv bootargs console=ttyS0,115200 root=/dev/mtdblock8;nand read $defaultLoadAddr $altKernAddr $altKernSize; bootz $defaultLoadAddr'
setenv ipaddr 192.168.1.1
setenv serverip 192.168.1.2
setenv netmask 255.255.255.0
setenv bootdelay 5
setenv firmwareName venom.img
save
run update_both_images
boot

Thanks again,

FYI, the instructions above got me back to the original WRT32X firmware and it updated itself to the latest version.

About to flash the latest DD-WRT, I must be mad lol!

Thanks for your help again Spuriousoffspring.

That's great! Sorry I missed your last post.
I'm sure this will help others who need to return from a WRT3200 conversion now that DD-WRT is available for the WRT32X.
