Replace WRT54G routers - Which recommendation

Hi,

I want to replace my old WRT54g routers. But I have no idea which model I should buy. Actually I don't need some special features. I just want to send the signal about 250m.
Which models can you recommend (flashable with actual firmware)? The antennas must be replaceable.

I still recommend the TP-Link Archer C7 v2, 3, or 4 (not 5).

It is decent. Don't expect amazing VPN speeds, but it does have great range. The antennas are removable (I use 8dBi antennas on both of mine). I get about 250m. Not exactly sure though, I have so many WDS Stations that range is not really an issue for me.

High-end, Netgear R7800, or R8000.

where R7000 is a great peace of gear fully DD-WRT supported Broadcom and if you use Kong's DDWRT drivers on it

The r8000 doesn’t have removeable antenna and some recent users are not able to flash dd-wrt to it.

Hi,

the TP-Link Archer C7 model seems a good replacement.
At them moment it costs about 60€ and I already have two TP-Link TL-ANT2409A antennas.

TP-Link CPE510 Outdoor WLAN Access Point (5GHz, 300Mbit/s, 13dBi) - better than using two TP-Link Archer C7?

Yes, you can mount them one a pole on the roof. With Power over Ethernet, no need for a power cable.

I don't know how you mounted your old routers, but with a long antenna cable will make signal loss.
