I have a TL-WR1043N v5 which I want to put on DD-WRT but when trying to install the software I get the error "This operation is not allowed for remote management." I am directly attached to LAN 1. What do I need to do to get DD to install.
I got the same message on a TP LINK 1043 v5 router. I am connected via a LAN cable on the LAN interface on the laptop and the Ethernet port 1 on the router. Then I entered in the web UI and tried the firmware update to dd -wrt

I started a TFTP server on the client.
I turn off the router
I press and hold the reset button
Power on the router
I hold the reset button for 15 seconds
the router copied the bin file
But thats it.
I don´t know how to flash or how to execute the bin file on the router.
log in via ssh or telnet with putty does not work.
I located the 2 fw factory and update. I tried the factory file by webgui but the file is not accepted.
I know with the tftp by setting machine address 192.168.0.66 and the firmware is loaded correctly but not executed. It is loaded and executed (both with web gui and with tftp). it must be a file problem.
using fw openwrt instead works correctly.
I am having the same problem. I have multiple TL-WR1043N v5 routers here, which I purchased because I saw the model number in the listing of images on the Web. However, I can't load any recent build into them. Not via the Web interface, not via TFTP recovery. When I try, the router simply reboots into the stock firmware. I'd be glad to donate hardware for experimentation (though apparently the problem has to do with the firmware signature and the folks at LEDE have already solved it) and/or test builds that may fix the problem.
I bought 5 router and bricked 2 making diferent robes for put dd-wrt. I could upgrade to open-wrt but not to dd-wrt.
Upgrade open-wrt is too easy, only upload the file from web gui. I think the same thst you, it is a signature problem, only make a new dd-wrt firmware signed for this router is the solution.
Anyone fixed this yet ? There seems to be a new build available.
Im currently running openwrt 18.06 but i want to switch back to ddwrt (used it before on other routers) since webui seems much better and some features are implemented by default (scheduled reboot and saved traffic data to name a few)
