You are absolutely right, and that is what I tried but there is a restriction to upload max 3 files apparently.
I will ask the second poster to upload the file

I have a 6700v3. I had tried installing a version of Kong for the 6400 but don't have both radios. No 5ghz right now
What is my best path to try the new official 6700v3 Kong version?
I have never had to tftp before so I tried to push the netgear firmware back to the device from the first post using windows tftp and the ddwrt instructions and also the tftp app but never had any luck.
Do I have to modify the 6700v3 stock firmware file? I probably am doing tftp wrong, would appreciate any suggestions.
Hoping I can get this thing up and running Kong DD WRT soon! Thanks again everyone.

I tried last night to install the 9/3/18 version inside the webgui for WRT, but when it rebooted it still reported it was the May version for the 6400v2 I tried, well I guess it really said it was a netgear 7000

What is your boardid?
Telnet to your router and post output of:
Code:
nvram show | grep board
You could try to go back to stock with the file on the first page of this thread
Or try via telnet / ssh ddup --latest or whatever the CLI method is if you are already on Kong build of DD-WRT. Are you sure the file below is the one you used? I'm pretty sure <Kong> keeps his local repository updated with the commits he made to the main repository for both devices.
You may have to revert back to stock firmware and then try again, but if you already had DD-WRT on the device, I don't see how it would've failed unless you needed a .bin file and not the .chk. Someone needs to remind <Kong> to update his suppored devices list as well.

Answered my own question. You may have used the wrong file.... probably best to revert to stock firmware and try again with the .chk file I linked in my previous post.

Hello Kong,
does your new FW version will help me with the following two issues I have? I am flashing the router for a friend.
1. Installed is v3.0-r36247std from DD-WRT (request from Astrill). I cannot upgrade or downgrade. The update runs to 100% and then restarts the same DD-WRT again, same for the Netgear stock from Netgear website. Or upgrade stays at 0% or 1% for minutes.
2. I get an error message when I try to install the Astrill app: -sh: eval: /tmp/astrillvpn: Permission denied
Would be great to hear that this will be fixed by flashing the firmware to your version. _________________ Netgear AC1900/R7000 DD-WRT v3.0-r37015M (09/23/18 ) kongac

Wrong thread?
I don't think so since I am trying to install DD-WRT on the R6400v2 or upgrading it to a stable DD-WRT version.
The router is now detected also as 7000P instead of 6400v2. _________________ Netgear AC1900/R7000 DD-WRT v3.0-r37015M (09/23/18 ) kongac

Your first post did not mention the router name or build or version or board and you refer to dd-wrt version v3.0-r36247, which obviously had other issues with R6400v2. Your query has probably been answered in this thread - or on one of the few threads on R6400v2 (not too many threads, though - so doesn't take too long).
Had you read this thread itself, you would have seen references to Kong's new builds 36820 and now 36840. Please try these first as they might resolve your issues - else provide feedback in the specific page for the build.
... more importantly, there is a risk of you bricking your friend's router due to your haste. Please read the third post of this thread. Then you will not need to rely on the second post of this thread.

Yes, you are right. Missed the information.
Thanks for the reminder.
I am still learning, therefore. Does Upgrading is not possible means the router is already bricked? I hope not. _________________ Netgear AC1900/R7000 DD-WRT v3.0-r37015M (09/23/18 ) kongac

Thank you egc,
The version installed I got directly from the DD-WRT Database, there is no Astrill build.
I will try later today to follow your guide. I will post my success or no success keep finger crossed. _________________ Netgear AC1900/R7000 DD-WRT v3.0-r37015M (09/23/18 ) kongac

I had followed the official page and finally while returning back to Netgear firmware, I bricked my router.
Then got wiser ... managed to get my router back to life and started spending more time reading the posts.
The builds by Kong work perfect for basic tasks ... and people are still checking the more complex ones.
When you post your findings, do add the following:
Router Model, version, boardID (only if it is netgear R6400v2). Also Firmware, Kernel, etc from Router Status page. Mention how you installed or failed and what errors you received.
