I don't think this is true, or at least for the majority. I'm not completely acknowledged on netgear stock firmware, but I don't think they add many more features on the software side that would lead you to buy a more expensive router, just for a software feature.
I think that people coming to ddwrt is people searching for better performance and stability than stock (for example my 6250 had one core locked by netgear on stock), OR in search of features that even an R9000 can dream of with stock.
I thought I had given an example of what I meant. Anyways, I am not here to argue.

Common playing ground where we are on the same team. The R6400 is value for money, when compared to other routers. Hope the devs pay more attention to it.
