I have recently had 330/50 FTTP installed by BT in the UK.
The router they have provided is a POS and i wanted to use my TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND running DD-WRT, however when I do, i only get 150Mb and not the full 330Mb
I've read that it's possible the router needs to be G.Fast compatible (ITU G.9700/9701) but i've really no clue what that means and even if it's true.. I figured that the box on the wall (modem i guess) is doing all the work and the router should just act as a gigabit router and not worry about all that stuff..
Any ideas? Am i completely confused?
Here is an article explaining it better than i can :

I think you would be maxed to 255-260 with V2+ of this router. V1 was good to about 120mbps.
I don't own one, though, so I cannot totally be trusted to know the full facts.
You'll need more CPU power so a R7800, EA8500, or R9000 would be best. R7800 is the best/easiest of the 3. R9000 is most future proof. EA8500 is best wifi performer, but a PITA to get dd-wrt onto the first flash due to the FCC.
How are you testing, wifi or Lan?
If Wifi, you need to make sure your settings are proper.

If Lan, are you using Cat 6 cables? Maybe you have a really old cable? Does the Lan report it's connected and 1000mbps or does it say 100mbps?

with dd-wrt v2 and v3 can see around 170-180 Mbit max
v1 will get not more than 60-70 if so....
with DD-WRT and SFE option turned on and no QoS and proper
wi fi settings v2 & v3 will hit around 350 ish max speed _________________ Atheros

that router is laughable for those speeds, need someting faster. sfe is a bandaid attempt by neutering features (qos, some others), the cpu still has to handle interrups. not to mention on 802.11n u need 3x3 @ 40mhz minimum to even get close to those speeds.. _________________ LATEST FIRMWARE(S)

Just a few things to think about...
Thanks for the reply.. It's the V2 and 180 sounds about right for the speeds I was seeing.. I guess it's time for an upgrade in that case!
