The WT3020F, WT3020H and WT3020AD have the same hardware. They run on MT7620N. It is supported by many (gargoyle, openwrt, rooter, etc.) but listed as "donated router needed" at DD-WRT.

For me, WT3020 works splendid with DD-WRT. DISCLAIMER:

The Buffalo WHR-300HP2 runs on MT7620A. It has more ports. It's firmware is what I used, successfully.

Procedure:
Start with the stock firmware.
>> If you already flashed (openwrt, gargoyle, rooter, etc all have firmwares for this router), go back to stock. I did not need to try it, but found a stock here:

direct link: https://app.box.com/s/5ksqqy14i8eb8vbcf9almn7h1it8hqi8

Proceed by upgrading u-boot with breed-mt7620-reset1.bin from hackpascal: https://breed.hackpascal.net/breed-mt7620-reset1.bin
>> It is chinese, use online translater services. A few English hacks of unknown source can be found online if you're adventurous.

Uboot upgrading instructions described at:
https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?pid=268012#p268012

Quote:
offer (the uboot bin) via http, so it can be downloaded from the router
$ python -m SimpleHTTPServer

directly connect the router via the lan port to your computer.
$ sudo ifconfig eth0 192.168.8.5
$ telnet 192.168.8.1 (login: nexxadmin pass: y1n2inc.com0755 )
# cd /tmp/
# wget http://192.168.8.5:8000/u-boot-nexx-3020-7620.bin
// proceed only, if you successfully downloaded the new uboot file
# mtd_write unlock mtd0
GetFileSize: No such file or directory
Unlocking mtd0 ...
# mtd_write erase mtd0

Unlocking mtd0 ...
Erasing mtd0 ...
Erase char is 255
# mtd_write -r write u-boot-nexx-3020-7620.bin mtd0
Unlocking mtd0 ...
Writing from u-boot-nexx-3020-7620.bin to mtd0 ... [w]

it hangs now, just wait another minute and then power it down and start it up again
To check if the new uboot works, press and hold reset-button, then connect power.
Once the led flashes several times, you can release the reset button.

Download latest DD-WRT for Buffalo WHR-300HP2 here:
ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/
I used a build early April and also the latest as of this writing:
ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2018/05-04-2018-r35874/buffalo_whr_300hp2/

I went the safe way:
first from uboot: firmware.uimage
then from DD-WRT: buffalo_whr_300hp2-webflash.bin

Configure at will.

Bugs / limitations:
1. LAN and WAN are inversed in DD-WR
2. reset button does not work in DD-WRT (which is why I recommend flashing uboot first in case you brick it, or simply forget the GUI password)

Works fantastic for the last month, and super stable for me.

Thanks for your guide.

Last version I got working is June 10th:
ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2018/06-10-2018-r36104/buffalo_whr_300hp2/buffalo_whr_300hp2-webflash.bin

From version 06-16-2018-r36154 June 16th and later the WT3020 no longer boots.

Checked svn, tickets etc.
https://svn.dd-wrt.com/search?q=300hp
but could not find anything changed specific to this buffalo_whr_300hp2 since December 12th 2017.

Anyone knows what changed breaking the use of buffalo_whr_300hp2 on WT3020 ?

Are 4g modems supported in this firmware?

This Buffalo firmware does not have USB support, so it can't support any 4G modems.

By the way, I offered donate modem and maintainer was absolutely not interested.

Moderator edit 03.16.2021:

If a more recent build will flash to this unofficially supported device, please PM me to unlock this thread to report, thanks. -kp69
