I am using firmware version V1.0.2.60_10.0.44 in my new Netgear R6400v2. Tried to flash it after reset with latest Kong's ch file ... I got the following message
Quote:
The firmware is not compatiable with your router. Error code -1
There seems to be very little on the R6400 router and mostly the texts refer to R6300. Is it something wrong I did (tried three times and followed the instructions completely)? Or is there some issue with the firmware that I am using?
What is the way out? I purchased the router because it is dd-wrt compatible.

Tried the first link. It worked.
Then tried upgrading to the mega version from the 6400v2 dd-wrt files. The upgrade seemed to stop midway.
...and that's where I have probably bricked my router
Only the Power LED was blinking ... once per second with a bright orange colour. The LED of the LAN connection would glow when cable was connected there. WiFi lights refused to light up.
Resetting did not work. Dancing lights were showing as expected - but once resetted, the router was back to its per-second orange blink status.
Pinging 192/.168.1.1 was happening without any packet losses.
Using TFTP2 utility did not work. Only .bin files were getting transferred. The .chk files dod not work
Enabling Windows 10 TFTP and sending via command line showed that the files were getting transferred ... router refused to restart in spite of several attempts (first using the mega build, then using the factory-to-ddwrt build ... files were getting transferred, but the router refused to show any changes.
Tried doing the above routine at boot-time (during first ping while router was booting) ... no change
I have pretty much given up. Don't have a JTAG cable and do not want to open the router. Thankfully, my old router is working and I am online !!
Any takers ??
And that leads me to the big questions ... Do we have any support whatsoever for the R6400? Is anyone working on this? Any user who can comment here with actual experience?
Finally a request to the gurus of dd-wrt" Please do not update the router database with build information unless it has been tested and cleared by some senior member. I purchased the router based on it's capability to have dd-wrt loaded. I did all normal checks and decided on this model - and yet, here I am !! Please ensure that someone else does not commit the same mistake. Thanks for understanding.
