the linksys is only a G router so 54mbps is the max you can possibly get.

so your weired clients have their own subnet and can access the internet ?

With TP-link I see this:
11 + 7 (2462 MHz HT40)
300 Mb/s

this is the link from my tp-link to Vodafone router.

In linksys there isn't this option:
Channel Width

the router should give you about a real world speed of 20Mbps so approx 2,5MBps wich is rougly the equivalent of a 3000DSL line (or what ever you guys use in italy).

that should be totally sufficent to play games, watch youtube, stream music etc.
Only mass porn downloads would be an issue.

Plus the owner of the host router cant complain you are jamming his bandwidth.

try setting up the wlan part next, i think you have to add a virtual interface (bridged) to finish the original setup. then you can give it a few real world tests.

I don't understand this: if I do a internet speedtest I go only 3 Mbps. With tp-link 40 Mbps
Why so slow?

guess you mean MBps
(significant difference)

the Hardware is older

ist like comparing a Pentium 4 to Core7 cpu.

The later is going to be much faster.
That does not mean the Pentium 4 cpu is damaged or broken.

Try to flash the factory firmware from the GUI.
