Yesterday I upgraded to the latest build for my WRT1900ACv2. My previous build was from Nov of 2016. The latest build (Beta) at 1st seemed to work ok but as the day wore on it would intermittently loose connectivity local and internet. Sometimes for several hours. So today I went back to the original Linksys firmware partition via the 3x on/off method and am on the Linksys firmware. My question is how do I roll back to the previous image? I have the factory-to-ddwrt image as well as the images I flashed to in November of 2016. My question is how do I do this. I have tried flashing the factory-to-ddwrt to no avail and have to 3X on/off to get back to linksys image.

Since I haven't heard from anyone I thought maybe a little more information will help.
According to the sysinfo.cgi page I am booting off partition 2 (boot_part=2). So I assuming when I try to flash the factory-to-dd-wrt image it is going to partition #1. What happens is the flash seems to take but the boot up never occurs and I have to do the 3X off/on sequence to get back to the factory linksys image. Do you think the partition #1 is corrupted causing flashes to it to fail? If so how do I fix this?

Have you read the stickies? Should be all the info you need, they are also in my sig.
The factory to dd-wrt image is only for installing from the Linksys UI and you need to make sure you have the correct one for your router. Do not try to use it from the dd-wrt UI. If on the Linksys UI the factory to dd-wrt should just install assuming you have downloaded the correct image and router reboot into dd-wrt. If not you really need to read the stickies to see what you are doing wrong as the install process just works.

I've been pouring over the stickies for days. The first flash was done from the dd-wrt image after setting partition per the stickies instructions without rebooting. This let to an attempted rollback from dd-wrt to an older image when the current image was having connectivity issues. That's when it all went downhill and since then repeated image writes from the factory image using factory-to-dd-wrt images have not worked. The flash seems to go OK with no errors but the dd-wrt image never comes up. I'm at a loss for what to do.

Others have reported this same issue with the latest build. Try flashing the previous one.
Whenever you flash or upgrade the firmware it always goes to the opposite partition. If you want to keep stock Linksys firmware always available then you must flash from Linksys firmware with the 'factory-to-dd-wrt.bin' or use the 'trick' described in the Tutorial. _________________ DD-WRT Installation & Setup TUTORIAL http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=311117

That's what I did after I flashed with the latest build. I used the trick without a reboot to move to the Linksys image partition and tried reflashing the dd-wrt (from dd-wrt) to an older version and that is where the problem is occurring. The subsequent flashes failed and all I was left with was the linksys image.

Just to be clear, by 'trick' this is what I am referring to:
Quote:
Trick to Upgrade DD-WRT Firmware without losing current configuration or the need to return to Stock Firmware:
Using Telnet/SSH and the ubootenv set boot_part command (described below) it is possible to upgrade to a newer version of DD-WRT without the need to manually switch back to Stock Firmware Partition. All previously configured settings will remain intact.
1. Use the ubootenv get boot_part command to learn the current Partition in use.
2. Use the ubootenv set boot_part (1 or 2 – the opposite number returned in Step 1) command.
3. DO NOT REBOOT
4. In DD-WRT GUI – Administration Tab – Firmware Upgrade Sub Tab: Upload the new ’dd-wrt webflash.bin’ file for your Router & Hardware Version. MAKE SURE THAT NO RESET IS SELECTED.
5. After Firmware Upgrade is finished the Router will automatically reboot.
The only time you need the factory-to-dd-wrt.bin file is when uploading & flashing from Linksys GUI. _________________ DD-WRT Installation & Setup TUTORIAL http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=311117

I've actually searched for days for earlier Linksys firmware and am finding nothing. I can only find Linksys's post of current firmware, for my router (WRT1900ACSv2) dated in May 2018.

Are you having a problem with flashing DD-WRT or returning to stock firmware?
My attempts a couple of months ago to update from and flashing from 34315 failed miserably, but I plan to have another go shortly, this time from stock. My original stock is long gone, lost in a clueless initial install, so I'll be putting on my choice of stock firmware from which to flash a new dd-wrt.
Any recommendation on how old is best? Looks like my choices (YYYY-MM-DD) are 2017-07-21 and 2018-05-15.

I know others who had problems with upgrading from stock to latest builds were able to upgrade with a much earlier DD-WRT build, but I can't remember which ones.
To be honest, I'm still not convinced that the issue is with DD-WRT. If everyone was experiencing the same problem upgrading I would think differently, but so far there's no common cause.
I know from personal experience that browsers can and will cache the previous firmware GUI pages making it look like the flash failed.
I avoid this by using seperate browsers for the flash and then for the initial log in.
If you have any problems with the upgrade - post in this thread and I'll help any way I can.

Good luck!
Many thanks for your offer to assist re upgrade trouble! Figured I'd give it a try before commenting, so here is the report.
I now have a WRT1900ACSv2 up and running, mostly, on 36698. I was unable to flash it from linksys firmware 2.0.1.182461 of July 2017, but I flashed it without incident from the current linksys firmware, 2.0.2.188405 dated 2018-05-15 on the linksys site. I then duplicated dd-wrt parameters by hand from my 34315 setup over the course of several hours of saving, applying, rebooting, and debugging.
I have not had it running long enough to know whether I'll see the wifi drops that some have experienced. My guess is that I will not, as the reports suggest those curse the newer linksys browsers like the 3200 and 32x but not this model.
One serious problem has appeared, however. (Move this discussion to the 36698 build thread?) When I boot, the time is not being obtained from the ntp server (pool.ntp.org), so the router defaults to midnight Jan 1. But in Services>Services I have dnscrypt enabled via "Encrypt DNS", and the log shows these messages from dnscrypt-proxy:
"Server certificate with serial [blah blah] received"
"This certificate has not been activated yet"
The nonactivation is presumably because the time on the certificate appears to be in the far future. This apparently shuts down DNS service so thoroughly that pool.ntp.org cannot be reached to get the time! The deadlock remains until I temporarily disable dnscrypt via the "Encrypt DNS" setting. Applying that change and (yes, this is required) re-applying the Setup>Basic Setup page where the time server is specified breaks the deadlock and restores proper times to new log entries. Then I can reenable dnscrypt and things will continue cruising along just fine until the next reboot, when the whole mess repeats.
This deadlock did not happen in my nearly nine months of using 34315 with identical ntp server and dnscrypt settings. Something has changed. Needless to say, I now have to disable my scheduled overnight reboot and the keep-alive watchdog unless I want to break this deadlock by hand every morning.
Any ideas on how to remove the deadlock on boot short of simply giving up on dnscrypt? The obvious "fix" is to specify an IP address for the time server, but that was not effective for either of the two I tried (one from https://tf.nist.gov/tf-cgi/servers.cgi and one from "nslookup pool.ntp.org").
