Today I decided to break out the old WRT1900ACS v2 and flash the latest firmware DD-WRT v3.0-r36247 std (06/29/1.
After flashing and booting with all the default settings, the 5ghz radio was not broadcasting. Channel was set to auto, so I changed it to manual and 36 UU+6. Download speed was terrible, so I changed it to another channel which prevented the radio from showing up. Finally used 100 UU+6 and the radio is broadcasting and speed is okay, not great.
I've been away for a good while, is there a specific channel I should use for dd-wrt on this router now for the 5ghz radio? Thanks! _________________ WRT1900ACS

After testing several channels, I have ended up with 116 +6 as the best offer. It's pretty odd how different channels/extensions made such a huge difference in performance for me. _________________ WRT1900ACS
