im having an issue with a wdr4300 router, using the latest official firmware which is 2.4 build 21061 and the problem i am having is very slow wifi speeds

running a speed test with a wired connection i get roughly 120mbps, running the same test via wifi, no matter which device i use, or which settings i use i only get about 15mbps using the same speed test

any ideas?

At this exact moment,14 topics below this one there are 46 pages of discussion about this router. I might have a look thru that. https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=160618

Also your "latest official firmware" is over 5 yrs old. That can't be a good thing.

Also2 have a look here: https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/QCA_wireless_settings

no change, im still getting 15-20mbps wifi, and went through the optimization settings too, and also updated the firmware on my wifi cards which is an N card, although i do not think it works with 5ghz.. still, i should be getting more than 20mbps even on 2.4ghz

they were set back to factory last night before i got the last message.. but still no change.. i bought a 25' cat6 ethernet cable to hook up the other computer with as my router is gigabit LAN, however none of my wifi cards are better than single band 2.4ghz

am i right to assume that i SHOULD be getting better speeds than that? no settings ive tried, even using all the recommended from the guide yielded any change and i dont think its anything related to broadcast power or interference with the router literally 2 feet from the PC i was testing it with

maybe i just need a better router and better wifi cards in the future?

yes even 2.4ghz, 20mhz, 1 chain should get over 30mbps. it sounds like ur getting 802.11g rates, maybe cause of invalid security type, need to be using wpa2 personal or wpa2 personal mixed with aes only, not tkip, not wpa1, not wep.

ur at the wrong place if u want "stable"... look at the latest ftp, all are "betas". most devs around here dont give a shit to fix simple issues...

Windows, Linux, Mac? Download a wifi-analyzer and during peak hrs IE: 5 pm + your time, see how many people are using which channels. It's most likely you are on a congested wifi channel. For 2.4g try channel 9. For 5g try channel 161. Check other channels. Simply switching a channel will boost you if it's not as congested.

Dear Gurus,
Please help me. I've installed the DD-WRT v3.0-r41379 std (10/24/19) firmware on my router. I have a 1000 Mbps wan connection via PPPoE. All the stuff connected by wire can produce 2-300 Mbps up-, and download speed, but the wifi stuffs can only work at 4-6 Mbps down-, and about 16 Mbps upload speed on both 2,4 and 5 Ghz. Maybe the problem is that I've done the advanced settings by the descripton of: https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/QCA_wireless_settings
Could you help what I've done not too properly?

Thank you!
