There's also a link to a modified .bin file for initial build on that page, which I have downloaded, but I'm tossed between tomato/advanced tomato/fresh tomato, DD or stock for that hardware. OpenWRT doesn't support wifi functionality that I know of, but afaik, the others do (?)

Ya OpenWRT def won't support the (USB-based) 5 GHz. Not sure about the 2.4. When I tried to used the 5 GHz on stock and Shibby, the router would randomly reboot every 5-15 minutes. mrjcd had mentioned this was common on the E2500 when under load. Maybe the v2 or v3 is improved in that regard? I'm sure the updated OEM f/w for the v3 is for the krack fix. There were lots of dec-feb updates from most manuf's for it. I'm surprised Linksys did, given their history with firmware. Maybe the new mgmt is helping. Rolling Eyes

Yeah, I heard Cisco sold Linksys to Belkin, but it looks like Foxconn bought them both....

https://www.theverge.com/2018/3/26/17166272/foxconn-buys-belkin-fit-linksys-wemo

.... and someone needs to update Wikipedia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linksys

Haven't had a chance to put that E2500v3 through any hard labor yet, but we'll see, I guess Wink

I have noticed this as well when I have flashed mine with other versions... thought it was just me

This build broke my RT-AC56U. I had to restore from the Asus CFE miniWeb server.

Flashed back to DD-WRT v3.0-r36154 std (06/16/18) and all is well

It broke my RT-AC68U too. I can't use the miniWeb server so I needed to use the asus restore software.

Other users' comments:
- WiFi broken in k3.x editions since build 35531 for modes other than AP?
- 5GHz problem can be solved by adding delay in init process?
- Setting WPA re-key interval if not 99999 and rebooting router daily fixed NAS crash problems?
- Setting WPA re-key interval to 0 could prevent wifi clients from disconnecting?
- NAS functions collided with NTP server, causing time skew?

Old problems:
a. DDNS (inadyn) crashed in build 31722
b. Testing port-forwarding via WAN IP from within LAN not working in builds 34411-34760. Needed external proxy server.
c. NTP client not working in builds 34886-34876,35034 (affecting process_monitor?)
d. The ping to www.google.com increased from 2ms to 13ms after setting a defunct
WINS server in Setup->Basic Setup->DHCP->WINS (also something related to blank Source Net?)
e. The "Source Net" field in Port-Forwarding screen displayd blank field as "¸ÖÁv",
from builds 32667 to 32767. Possibly null-pointer assignment?
f. Blank Source Net in Port Forwarding cripped WAN in builds 35831-35874! Needed to be "0.0.0.0/0" or no internet!
g. Running "cat /proc/mtd" in Administration -> Commands for builds before 35916 didn't escape HTML special characters.

I had working 5GHz with nothing other than the boot wait default config in the WebGUI, never had to reboot when I set the re-key to 99999, both it and setting it to 0 seemed to keep the interruption to zero, and it's 'nas' (network authentication service), not NAS (Network Attached Storage)... but, I still think the 3600 re-key and 3600 ntp sync were colliding. OR, there were other things that needed to be setup on router and clients for it to work right(?). OH, and the timestamp skew has been fixed, I believe. All syslog timestamps are UTC as best I can tell.

'cat /proc/mtd' in the WebGUI was fixed a few builds back....

Is there an easy way to see if Softether is actually installed, but something is just broken with it being shown in the web GUI?

Or is there a way to manually install and configure it? I really need it for this device.

Router/Version: Asus AC68-U
Firmware:
Kernel:
Mode:
Status: Reboot looped

Tried this one after running 35244 for a few months.
Router ended up in reboot loops, even after clearing NVRAM.

Had to use asus recovery mode and reverted back to r35244 just fine (besides having to setup my now cleared nvram settings again :/)

Looking above, looks like I'm not the only one. Guess something broke.

Router/Version: Linksys E3200
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r36168 mega (06/20/2018)
Kernel: Linux 3.10.108-d2 #19640 Wed Jun 20 18:06:53 CEST 2018 mips
Mode: Gateway/AP
Status: Reset to defaults after installing and everything has been up and running without issues for a few days. I have a very basic setup without any VPN or QoS. Only thing I noticed was that I had underclcked the router and the clock speed settings survived a reset. Not sure if that is normal or not but it's not a bad thing.

Router/Version: Linksys E2500 v1
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r36168 mega (06/20/2018)
Mode: gateway/AP
Status: Reset to defaults after installing and used it for maybe 1-2 hours. Everything seems to be running fine. I noticed my temps were quite a bit lower then my E1500 so that's kind of nice. Might look into setting this up as a wireless repeater sometime.
