I followed the instructions to configure the repeater bridge and everything is working but the virtual lan. I used a different name and it would not connect. Can you not use a different name from the main router ssid? If I use the same name I can't tell if it works or not.

I am using the 5ghz wireless to connect to the main router. The 2.4ghz band is in AP mode. When I try to create a VL for the 5ghz band it does not connect.

I am using the Dlink 868L with firmware from 06/10/18.

@mrjcd is using repeater bridge on a E2500 with kernel v3.10.108, also on latest r36104 (see https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=315456&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15)

I never accomplished repeater bridge modes on my Buffalos D1300/1800. All kind of issues: duplicate IPs (reported by Windows box), no GUI or could not connect, etc.

Range of the E2500 isn't superior, otherwise I'd invest 20 bucks for a used one and try myself.

perhaps because of kernel v4
because it is wrong. The Buffalos D1300/1800 are using also kernel v3.10.108.}

Use client, instead of repeater bridge.

Thanks.

So the wiki is wrong?
Quote:

It uses its wireless connection as the WAN interface, and shares the internet connection only to the LAN ports. It is not seen as an access point nor accepts wireless connections by client devices.

Or is it possible in client-mode to add a bridge manually, say with wl0 and eth? Two nets or 1?
A repeater in it's general meaning usually does not have any wired connection...

I installed r36104 over a working 'Repeater Bridge' running dd-wrt.v24-33986_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega.bin and it worked fine.
Doing a reset with build r36104 I was unable to configure a working 'Repeater Bridge' on the E2500.
Wireless clients would not connect to the VAP but installed over the working repeater bridge worked.

Same thing with E1200v2 when installed dd-wrt.v24-36104_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-nv64k.bin.
Done a Reset and setup repeater bridge but wireless world not connect.
Installed dd-wrt.v24-33986_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-nv64k.bin over r36104 and hit 'Apply Settings' in wireless all worked fine.
I then again instlled 36104, no reset, and repeater bridge worked just fine.

I was able to setup 'Repeater Bridge' just fine on the WAP54G using r36104 but it uses the old K2.4 build.

You should use 'Repeater Bridge' only as a last resort. It is not a transparent bridge.
Note: if you have 'ARP Spoofing Protection' enabled in security on main router you will see many kern.err arp spoofing detected logs because a Repeater Bridge will not pass MAC addresses.

Jun 17 06:16:53 router name kern.err kernel: [535180.194063] arp spoofing detected ip=10.72.28.7 mac is 00:0a:95:d5:77:8c but should be c8:b3:73:27:48:88

Interesting; did you happen to copy/paste the `nvram show` before and after, to try and figure out what broke it? Unless its a permission/owner issue...

Didn't get any logs. Just messed with it few times in GUI. Couldn't make a repeater bridge work w/r36014 from scratch. Interesting that the E1200v2 I setup the RB (wouldn't work) and then installed r33986 did an apply settings and it worked like a charm and continued to work when reinstalled r36104. Something is not setting in r36104 on configuration ...not sure what all it is.
Client Bridge would config perfectly w/r36104.
I let RB run for couple days and all was good. It is not something I use 24/7....don't really have any use for it but just setup on new builds to see if still works. Many older builds work just fine for RB on these routers for people that need it.

I recall mentions of iptables getting messed up in recent builds; maybe related to that. Curious to see what your `iptables -L` (and other) output looks like when RB isn't and is working too. I had mentioned it to BS a couple weeks ago but he never replied.
