Hi guys, I have a netgear 7800 with DD-WRT v3.0-r31240M kongat (02/04/17) firmware and my broadband comes in on a virgin superhub 3.
My CCTV is plugged into the 7800 and I can get local access but not WAN access. I've tried dmz-ing the superhub with the cctv ip and the netgear ip but I still can't get access to it.
could someone send me a link as I'm sure the tutorial is on here but I don't know what this problem is called?
many thanks

Did you untick the "Filter Multicast" on Setup_security?

Did you set the superhub to modem mode and connect it to the WAN port of the 7800?

Quite possibly not. By virtue that I'm using the super hub as a modem, isn't it setup as one?
I'm away till Sunday now so will review it and respond when i return.
Is there a tutorial somewhere of all the settings i need to change, or is every case different?

try Sierra. It is a mac modem. Whenever you are using an IOS application that requires a connection to build up you can set up your modem which automatically connects to the internet. You can verify your modem ID from Apple Support USA. Hope this is a good information for the viewers.

Here's a couple of tutorials for setting your superhub and 7800 up.

hi guys, sorry for the delayed response, but I've had other pc issues to address.
so with this problem, on both youtube vids it says change the virgin router to modem mode and that's it.
well, I change to modem mode and although I've got internet access if I plug directly into the virgin router, I've got no access on the dd-wrt router.
I moved the lan cable on the dd-wrt router from the yellow socket to one of the others and still nothing.
when I go to WAN status in the dd wrt it shows:
Connection Type
Automatic Configuration - DHCP
Connection Uptime
Not available
IP Address
0.0.0.0
Subnet Mask
0.0.0.0
Gateway
0.0.0.0
DNS 1
162.242.211.137
DNS 2
78.46.223.24
DNS 3

Remaining Lease Time
0 days 00:00:00

surely I have to change something on the dd wrt router. I've looked at every setting and I just can't figure it out. any advice would be really welcolmed.

Did you remove power from the modem and router and reboot them? If not, do so.

hmmm, some modems require time to load up and fetch an IP to the router, but in some cases you 'd need to set it up manually or even use pppoe interface to connect instead of auto DHCP

I rebooted both devices but it made no difference.
so are you guys saying that as I have the setup working properly now with the virgin router as router, I should be able to change it to modem mode and aside from rebooting them both, the dd-wrt router should just work exactly as it is setup now? is that correct?
I will try the pppoe trick later today and feedback, but I don't know how to call the ip manually? or even what IP?

I’ll be doing this setup myself as moving from Sky next week. Once you’ve connected the vm hub and netgear together via wan ports and have rebooted the super hub into modem mode, it looks like you’ll need to reboot the netgear on its own so it can pick up the wan IP address from the super hub once the super hub has connected successfully to the internet.

Also make sure you’re using port 4 on the super hub to connect to the netgear as that’s the only active port when it’s in modem mode (port nearest the coax connection).

hi guys and thanks so much for your support.
in the end I tried the slow reboot method, probably 3 times. switched them both off, waited a minute or so, rebooted the VM router, gave it 5, then rebooted netgear and after about 5-10 mins, I got internet access on the netgear.
in a nutshell, here's the resolve:
I changed the VM router to modem mode,
left all cables as they were (the lan cable from (any port)on the VM router) to the yellow port on the Netgear
and with a couple of reboots, and time, the internet came back on, on the netgear.
what a journey.
thanks to all who contributed.
