I just noticed Linksys updated the stock firmware for this router:

Firmware version: 1.1.10.187761
Release date: April 12, 2018

- Integrated KRACK vulnerability fixes
- Updated Wi-Fi driver to drv_7.2.9.2p11_fw_7.2.9.27
- General bug fixes

After using DD-WRT (kong builds) for about a year, I switched back to stock firmware when kong stopped supporting the device. I'm going to load this tonight - anyone here trying this out yet?

I had stopped using my WRT1900ACv1, as the wifi was flaky and on anything after r31924 I would get reboots 2-3 times a week.
I decided to give the new stock firmware a try and set it up as an AP, attached to my Netgear WNDR3700v4 running DD-WRT r35531.
I tried it out by grabbing a HD video from my laptop and playing it on the TV via a PVR.
So: laptop>>>wireless>>>WRT1900AC>>>ethernet>>>WDNR3700>>>ethernet>>>PVR
With DD-WRT (various versions) this 1920*1080*30Hz file would always stutter.
With new stock firmware - no stutter.
The Netgear running DD-WRT does not stutter this file.
The EA8500 (stock firmware, running as an AP) - from the far end of the house - does not stutter this file.
So now I have a wacky setup.
I can use DD-WRT on the Netgear to monitor the network and the 2 Linksys AP's...

With all due respect to the developers that work so hard on DD-WRT, owners of this router really have no alternative - I believe the last working Kong build was back in 2016.

I'm posting this because if someone owns this device and they want firmware that doesn't reboot every 8 hours (which isn't the device's fault) AND now has a fix for KRACK, then they might want to try this firmware.

For those interested, I will report back if random reboots occur (which prompted me to switch to DD-WRT in the first place).

Yes please do, as this is a very unexpected development after all these years of nothing!

I too switched to the stock firmware back in October as there were no stable, up to date dd-wrt builds available.

I had never used the stock firmware - I had flashed dd-wrt on this router as soon as I took it out of the box. I was using a very stable Kong build and I thought I was getting the best out of my expensive router.

I was wrong. As soon as I installed the July stock build, the wifi speeds sky-rocketed on all my devices, especially when using samba. I LOVE dd-wrt and I dearly miss the features, especially having multiple isolated secured wifi, but in the current state of things with regards to this router and dd-wrt, stock is the best option, performance-wise, for the wrt1900acv1.

I have nothing but respect for the developers of dd-wrt and I do not blame them for the problems with this router. It just does not seem possible to create a stable build with the latest kernel without putting in a immense amount of time and effort to figure out the perfect settings. Who knows what Linksys does to make their build stable? But since they are the ones who built the damn thing, we sure as hell are in our right to expect that at least them will supply us with a solid firmware, be it one a bit lacking in features.

I am using the standard build and it only has factory-to-ddwrt. How do I switch from ddwrt to factory from the standard build?

I found a old kong ddwrt to factory image and used that. I switched to stock firmware without any issues and to my surprise the settings for some reason were still there (they should not have been) since last time I used the stock firmware (long, long time ago).

I am now running stock firmware 1.1.10.182461. The reason I moved to ddwrt in the first place was because the older version was always rebooting when I used to or every few days (whatever did come first).

OK I have wrt1900ac V1 and I tried all Dd wrt firmware but I had problem with 5g to work in 80mhz after my trails I found the only ddwrt that stable for 5g wifi with 80mhz work is (DD-WRT v3.0-r33006 std (08/03/17) now what is the feedback with the latest linksys stock firmware Ver. 1.1.10.187761 date 12,April 2018 and is it worthy to back to this firmware ? please advice

I've now been using the latest stock firmware for a day and a half.
So far so good.
No reboots/dropouts noted.
One negative: 5GHz only on channels 36-48, and only 20 or 40GHz - very restricted choices.
Maybe that's what it takes to make the Marvell chipset reliable...

With DD-WRT, I had set New Zealand as my Regulatory Domain.
This allowed me to boost the range a bit.
With stock firmware, it is still quite powerfull, with good range.
Having said that, my new EA8500 - also on stock firmware - is noticably more powerfull - and has a full range of 5GHz channels with 80GHz available.
