Starting to get excited. Loaded r34760.
root@xxxxxxx:~# uptime
10:42:44 up 7:02, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
7hrs is longer than I got on any post 31924 build. Load has been low but hammered it with a few GB of torrents. 5ghz stable. SMB 2.0 works. Busybox is fixed so entware installs. I'll report back tomorrow or if it reboots.

Update: Up 35hrs now looking good.

Hey folks. I'm new here. I just successfully got DDWRT running on my 1900ACv1. I'm just doing the general set up. My question to ya'll is, are the limitations stated in this wiki outdated? like in the 5ghz section or can I use other settings. : https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_WRT1900AC

Thanks!

Thanks for this. I've been on this build for a few days now and no reboots and stable Smile

I have a WRT1900AC v1 with v3.0-r31924 std (05/02/17) with Linux 3.18.51 #131 SMP Sun Apr 30 20:34:24 CEST 2017 armv7l installed and has now been up for 39 days and 18+ hours without any problems. I posted that this unit had already been up 11 days without a problem on Feb 18th.
-----
I happened upon a second WRT1900AC v1 at a Goodwill thrift store. I installed r34876 build on that unit. I did nothing except install the build, changed default password, and power cycled the router. It just sits on the counter, no Ethernet or WiFi connections. It crashes and reboots roughly every 20-25 minutes. When it crashes it goes back to the default settings, including password. After the third crash I changed the password, and changed the LAN address to 10.0.0.1. I went back to it 30 minutes later and it had rebooted with default settings again, and the LAN went back to 192.168.1.1.

I repeated this with builds r34411, r34578, and r35034. The results were the same except the length of time before reboot varied for each build.

So thinking I had acquired a unit with damaged NVRAM Sad, I then installed v3.0-r31924 std (05/02/17) with Linux 3.18.51 #131 SMP Sun Apr 30 20:34:24 CEST 2017 armv7l on the second unit. Well I pleasantly found myself to be wrong about the NVRAM Shocked , this unit has now been up and running now for 6 days and 7+ hours without a problem.

The only thought I can come with is the version 1 processor does not support Linux 4.x.x kernel Confused, r31924 seems to be the last 3.x.x kernel build for this device.

I'm sticking with r31924 for WRT1900AC v1.

That seems to be the common viewpoint.
On my v1, r31924 lasted up to 11 days but still eventually restarted.
I'm currently trying r35244.
The first time it lasted 2 days 7 hours.
This time its been up for 5 days 7 hours so far.

Checking in to see if there were any newer builds available and surprised to see you guys still running r31924

Conversely to most reports here, I installed brainslayer r33006 around 9 months ago now and don't get random reboots or any major problems at all.

I occasionally get some packet loss on my network, but i'm unsure if that's due to shoddy network cabling from years ago. Other than that - it's been nice and stable for me for a LONG time. WRT1900ACS v1 here. I reboot it myself every few weeks or so, just for a clear out.

You're router isn't rebooting because it's not the router this thread is talking about:

WRT1900AC v1 is quite different than your WRT1900ACS v1

It been long time I have been waiting for stable dd-wrt release for WRT1900AC V1. Like everyone else I tried different version of dd-wrt and settled down in r31924 version for stability (Thanks for all your effort to point me to stable version). Recent discussion about CRACK and other security issues I am really looking for an working version of updated dd-wrt. However let's face it dd-wrt is not an issue here. We have hardware which is not good one or not supported as much as we anticipated.

I would like to get some update on what are we waiting for here to have stable release WRT1900AC V1 release. I would like to know why Linux Kernel 4.x is not working/supported and what we need to have a stable build for this router.

Sorry if this is already discussed enough I would like to know what would be root cause of this.

PS : Feeling bad to through a hardware I spent 170 dollars on Crying or Very sad

Thanks

Not sure on the reasoning on what is flagged as stable or not but I am running the latest beta r36104 which uses Linux 4.9 kernel without issue. I upgraded from a release before the current stable release and all is well (I'm running 1900acs v1)

...and if you want you can revert without much fuss by switching back to the previous partition. All without losing config. See the install/upgrade sticky thread for details.

The issues described in this thread are for the WRT1900AC v1 only.
The frequent, random reboots due to the CPU Idle and 4.9 Kernel do not affect your router. You shouldn't have an issue with the latest builds.

It is known that CPU_IDLE is the culprit in this SOC, why can't it be turned off in newer kernel versions ?

LEDE has resorted to doing that, or at least in community builds. I would love to run my mamba with the latest and greatest ....

It has been disabled as of a few days ago.

It looks like r36168 is out and potentially fixes the issues. I anxiously await everyone's results, I definitely would like to upgrade firmware that is now a year old. Wink
