I am trying to install debian (stretch) on my Archer C7 v2. I already am running Entware-3X on it. I was following this guide: https://github.com/Entware-for-kernel-3x/Entware-ng-3x/wiki/Installing-Debian-chroot-environment

It installs fine, but fails to run (via SSH):
Code:

start-debian
root@TP-Link Archer C7 (1):~# Illegal instruction

I searched online and can't find anything relevant. The install-debian script has arch=mips in it. I even tried wheezy and jessie releases, no change.

Any help would be appreciated. (Note, my end goal is installing printer drivers for a Brother Laser printer)

illegal instruction means that it is not being compiled for the correct processor. See https://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1068887 where I had an example.

But I am using Debian for MIPS. It says it supports MIPS32 R2, which is what the Archer C7 v2 lists on the Status page, among other things.

I did get Debian working somehow, but I have since no need for it. I was trying to get a printer driver to work but it never did.
