Is anyone having issues with this router on DD-WRT v3.0-r32693 std (07/14/17)?

I've been getting random crashes. It's getting quite frequent lately.

That firmware is quite old.

I run 12-29-2017-r34311 at the moment.
Encountered an unexpected reboot a few days ago but after tracking it, no reboots after 3.5 days. During that time, hammered it with hours of peer to peer traffic to stress the router and no hiccups. Maybe a fluke in my case...

Haven't bothered with the more recent 2018 versions as of yet.

Thanks. I didn't know there was a new FW for it. Can you point me to the download link?

You can grab the builds from dd-wrt ftp server: betas

You can decide as to which build you wish to try.

Hi,
anybody experienced issues with PPPoE on this one? I have upgraded to the beta from 30.1. Everything is working smooth, but when i enter my provider credentials and switch to PPPoE i get the system unresponsive for ~30sec and no connection. The logs are not telling anything useful. Maybe i need to do a proper reset because i have some stock data leftovers. Is the 30/30/30 method working for this architecture as well?

From the various comments posted around, hardware reset varies depending on the router so I just gave up and reset via command line using telnet.

NB: The current firmware listed for the DIR-882 is 01-31-2018-r34777

Hi i tried all the latest FW, but still no luck. I tried to get more information out of it but failed. I see a crash if i try to redial via telnet.

Any ideas how to investigate? Is there any log with more information available.

Depending on configuration changes, the router can take anywhere from 30 seconds to 90 seconds, to apply a change.

I'm having issues getting my HDHomeRun working with my router so I'm wondering if maybe a firmware update might help. Just wanted to double check, are the instructions for upgrading this router the same as in the peacock thread (which is for broadcom routers)?

The proper process for flashing when upgrading EXISTING dd-wrt firmware is:

a.Set your computer to a static IP of 192.168.1.8. (or to whatever subnet the router is on) Disable all firewalls and security. Disable wireless on your computer and only have the router connected to the flashing computer by the ethernet cable between the two.
b. Hard reset prior to flashing. Wait. Check for password page on re-login and change password.
c. Flash firmware. You should use the dd-wrt webgui upgrade page except if you have a belkin router. (For belkin use tftp.exe to flash)
d. Wait...at least three minutes. Lights should return to normal. See important2, below. Failing to wait is how most people brick their routers.
e. Do a power cycle of the router. (Unplug the cord, count to 30 and plug it back in.)
f. Wait for the lights to return to normal usually about 2 minutes.
g. HARD reset again. Wait. Check for the password page and set the password. Then you can reconfigure your settings manually.
h. Once configured set your computer back to autoIP and autoDNS.

Instructions for the DIR-878, which is similar to DIR-882.
You can take a look at post #34 at the following: LINK

Note: Firmware 02-08-2018-r34876 does not display correct time in the DIR-878. Whether NTP is selected (+15 hrs off) or not (+7 hrs off?), time is incorrect.
The DIR-882 may end up with the same problem.

The router works fine for me when it comes to wifi 5 and 2.4 works great. No disconnects nothing. But i want to use it as my main router to dial up. PPPoE is not working in the logs is see only this:
Jan 1 00:02:13 DD-WRT user.info : pppd : PPP daemon hanging, send SIGKILL
Jan 1 00:02:13 DD-WRT user.info : pppd : PPP daemon successfully stopped
Jan 1 00:02:13 DD-WRT daemon.notice pppd[2085]: pppd 2.4.7 started by root, uid 0
I tried to do this in all possible PPPoE settings with my cable connected and not. But still pppd is not working. I don't know how to get more informations out. Is there any logging possible on pppd. I even tried to start it via telnet but same issue there.
