I have had a working config that has not been touched for a bout 6 months. (From April 2017 to Dec 2017).

For the last month, nothing has changed on the router but the 2.4GHz channel stops working. The router does a reboot over night and sometimes it start broadcasting its SSID sometimes it doesn't after the reboot.

I have tried resetting the factory settings, flashing new firmware but the problem persists. The 5GHz channel is
fine. In the status is says the radio is on but it is not transmitting.

Anyone know what could be happening?

do you have google home/home max/home mini/chromecast? If so, those devices can kill your router.
