I have a Linksys router with ddwrt (Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r27858 mini (09/28/15)) and I have been trying to set a LIMIT, not prioritize, the bandwidth to my PS4.
My internet connection is 10/10 but I want my PS4 to get more like 2/1.
I have been trying to do this for a while now in the qos setting but it won't work.
I have tried to limit the MAC address and interface but when I runt "Test connection" on my PS4 it still gets 10/10 speed.
What am I doing wrong here?

When I try to limit my WAN port and set my uplink and downlink to different numbers nothing is happening then either. Still getting 10/10 on speedtests. It's like my changes doesn't apply. I always reboot after making the changes even.

A couple things:
- Use WAN port as the direction of QoS, else you will limit the LAN & WLAN internal transfer rate to 8000 kbps which will make internal network transfers slower than necessary.
- Try using HFSC packet scheduler
- MAC priority is iffy on certain routers so experiment with limiting bandwidth through the other options too.
- Try enabling per user default limits and see if it has effect on traffic shaping per device.
- Lastly, update to a minimum build specified in the wiki article
The wrt54GL uses trailed builds meaning you can flash a build with wrt54g.bin in the name and it should work. This is the most recent build for example.

Reset to factory defaults before flashing the build i linked to see if it clears the old version.
You probably just bricked your router if you can't access the GUI and the power light doesn't stop blinking... That's why you don't go blindly flashing various builds. I know for fact the wrt54gv7 isn't able to run DD-WRT because of its atheros chipset.
lerkan76, you can try this method. If you can remember the last ip addr of your gateway, setup a static ip from your computer/laptop, next setup the ping command of the gateway ip addr and then unplug your router if it isn't already hold the reset button down, start the ping command after you plug the router back in while holding the reset button for 10 sec then release while checking to see if your receiving a response, and if there is a response congrads then get back to the GUI and reset to defaults or keep your settings and figure out in purchasing something more reasonable within 5yrs. Good luck regards
