I would like to submit as much information to Brainslayer as possible in regards to our common issue:
Frequent and Automatic Self-Reboots
I know many of you have posted several times about this already, but I think having all the information in one place will help.
I'm sure Brainslayer is extremely busy with all the current models he supports, but if there are enough of us with the WRT1900AC v.1 who would benefit from a special version of DD-WRT then it may be worth it.
Also, I plan to make a small donation October 25 when I get $. I am ashamed to say this will be my first donation to DD-WRT.
While it is not necessary, I am sure it will be appreciated and deserved - regardless of whether or not we get our own build.
My experience with any build past 31924 has been:
Random reboots begin usually after 40 hours uptime, but have started much sooner
Get more frequent after 3-4 days to the point of many times daily
Are always precluded by a loss of all connectivity with no abnormal LED indication
Seem to begin and occur more frequently with OpenVPN Client (other services?) enabled _________________ DD-WRT Installation & Setup TUTORIAL http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=311117

Agreed, thanks for posting!
BS - Is there a specific log you would like us to capture and upload that will help gather the info that is needed to diagnose the root cause of these issues?

For anyone with a Windows PC. You can use Syslog Watcher 4 to capture the Syslog in DD-WRT.
It’s very easy to setup/configure and it’s free.

I do not use a VPN service so I don't know about that. I can confirm the rest of the symptoms. _________________ Linksys WRT1900AC v1 - r31924

Yeah, it seems to me that it's time that I moved on from ddwrt if I still want to use my router. Kong abandoned it and BrainSlayer has effectively done the same since the router cannot run these builds without rebooting. I appreciate the effort and understand they cannot dedicate time to fixing a problem with one version of this router.
I may try the July Linksys build, but I have my doubts.

Could this issue be related to the router running excessively hot?
mine is running pretty hot: CPU 67.4 °C / WL0 56.6 °C / WL1 66.3 °C
This is not hot at all. When I was running my wrt1900ac v1 is was always in the 70's. Linksys OEM firmware had the fan control for on at 85 and off at 80 by the way.

experienced wired issue with my Kong Build 01/08/2017 build I have had since beginning of the year, an it appear very stable. Yesterday, I came home and noticed the wifi is gone, and the router kept rebooting it self for hours so frustrating, definitely no heated coz it's fanned and the physical feel is cool. I got fed-up that I installed BS 10/10/17 same issue. Hence I concluded it couldn't be the firmware. Then start playing with routers ports, I removed every three devices directly connected to the router except the modem (internet port) and 8 ports switch connected to port one of the router. So far it has been stable for 8 hrs.
Wondering if anyone have such an experienced and what have done to cure the issue.
Also, I do I obtain a log to assist developer to trouble shoot.

It seems from what I have read things will not get better until BS goes to the 4.4 kernel for the wrt1900ac v1. Folks at LEDE/Openwrt seem to be scratching their heads as well. Davidc502 makes a special LEDE build with the 4.4 kernel which seems to run ok, but that is the only firmware I am aware of with the 4.4 kernel and latest drivers. Guessing not much if anything has been done with the wrt1900 series of routers wireless firmware wise.

I’m sure Brainslayer will come up with something. I don’t think he was even aware of the reboot issue on the WRT1900AC v1 until very recently.
Probably due to the 'bystander effect'.
I installed a Syslog Server (Syslog Watcher 4) on my Windows 10 Desktop and I was able to capture the logs at the time of crash+reboot.
I posted the file and a screenshot to Ticket #6010.
For me this really wasn’t a major concern until the WPA2 vulnerability was exposed. I was perfectly happy with 31924.
I imagine the chances of becoming a victim of a KRACK attack are probably very slim, but better to be safe!
