r33492 seems to run well on the WRT160NL just be warned installing thru GUi might or might not work

It's been years since I did that, need to review the procedure...

i see no difference, qos is still the same, switch still spiking latency etc

other people reported its fixed and your ticket list is insane full of old tickets which are no way reproduceable. see apply over wan etc. i do this every day

and your spiking latencies is maybe a indicator of a broken cable? its just the switch which works indepenend from any os

openvpn server works. check for config changes in latest openvpn versions like the "proto" field in addition some insecure protocols are disabled in openssl like sslv3 etc.
