I have what I'm thinking is the last stable release from KONG: DD-WRT v3.0-r32170M kongac (06/11/17)
I see there is a test folder so I'm assuming that is where non-stable releases reside?

I'm not having any major issues for DD-WRT v3.0-r32170M kongac (06/11/17) on my R7000.
If you are not needing SFE then stay where you are at since you are not having any major issues. I am on his latest on my R7000 because I needed SFE for my fiber connection. That release has been working well for me.
The only thing I would add is that I am on the DD-WRT v3.0-r33010M kongac (08/09/17) release, and SFE does not play nicely with iptable firewall rules to allow/deny traffic through a VPN. There is an open bug on this somewhere.
