Figured I would also put it here so it's much easier to find.

Just to be clear, this is for Linksys WRT1900AC v1

Good to know. I'm using the WRT1200AC v1 on build 31899, and was monitoring this forums= for anything newer/better. Most of what I have seen so far is that the newer kernels don't work well with our routers.

Fairly new to all this, running 31791 (03/30/17) mostly well except (1) 2.4 ghz radio drops clients a fair bit (but is that a hardware issue? Stock FW did as well) and (2)streaming video on 5g radio will often drop signal 15 minutes in (but not when on powerline networking), so I wonder if 31924 improves significantly on this or other issues.

What model router do you have?

I did, but I just wanted to be sure. Mr. Green

Everyone's setup & environment is different and I haven't experienced any of the issues that you have described (Lucky?)
I don't have too many wireless devices & the oldest one is an iPad 2.

I have spent a lot of time playing around with settings to find that 'sweet spot'.

The easiest thing to try would be the Wireless Advanced Settings.

What works for me may not work for you, but just for the hell of it I'll post a screenshot of mine.

Also, check this Wiki page out. It helped me.

https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Atheros/ath_wireless_settings

I hope this helps you!

This 05-02-2017-r31924 firmware should be mounted on a brass plaque for posterity, entitled:

The last ever stable version of DD-WRT for the Linksys WRT1900AC v1 router

I suspect that this may well be the case, given what has materialised since! Rolling Eyes

I completely agree. I'm on the 33180 right now. I've only had one reboot so far, but it occurred sooner than any previous version.

I have no doubt that I'll be reverting back to 31924.

I can't say for sure if this log entry is something new or if I've just never noticed it before (see attached screenshot), but according to the time - it was the last log before auto reboot.

Hi, Can anyone advise if DD-WRT v3.0-r31924 std (05/02/17) works with openvpn as I am having problems with setting up IPVanish. I have Triple checked the settings on their website but no joy. https://support.ipvanish.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2762802-dd-wrt-v3-router-setup?b_id=11043

I am getting an error in syslog as follows:

Jan 1 00:00:24 DD-WRT daemon.err openvpn[1258]: Cannot load CA certificate file /tmp/openvpncl/ca.crt (no entries were read)
Jan 1 00:00:24 DD-WRT daemon.notice openvpn[1258]: Exiting due to fatal error

Any help on this would be most aprreciated

Did you include: ----------Begin Certificate--------- & --------------End Certificate -------------
When you copied the CA Certificate in the box?

The next thing I would try is changing your DNS servers from the ones on their instructions to a public DNS.

https://www.lifewire.com/free-and-public-dns-servers-2626062

*I have used OpenDNS, Level3 & Google. Currently on OpenDNS.

Also, just to make sure, do you have ipVanish's updated instructions?

My bad! I just looked at your first post again and realized that you have the updated instructions.
Sorry about that!

Let me know if the DNS Server solves it.

The instructions don't mention it, but the correct time has to match between your router and ipVanish's servers.
Make sure you have your time zone set and use the appropriate server.

Hi,

I changed the timezone to match the server and my private ip address has changed

Just one thing, if i click on Status>OpenVpn there is no data. Is this correct?

Thank you for your help with this, most appreciated. I think we have the problem and why don't they put that info re the timezone on their instructions!

Very happy I could help!

It takes a bit for it to connect and to start showing data transfer. Check again after it's been 'running' for a minute or so.

As long as it says Connected Success and your external IP Address has changed - you're all good. Mr. Green
