I had the original OTRW installed until my install went belly up [and apparently lost my backup! go me! *groans*). Trying to reinstall it now with OTRW2 and cannot do so. Attempting to download the prep_script results in a 404 response code and as thus cannot install it. Apparently the SVN no longer exists. Mad

Are there any other locations to get the install from? Otherwise is there someone who has OTRW or OTRW2 that can kindly GZip their ./opt folder and provide it for download?

Regarding OTRW2, I think it is discontinued in favor or either entware-ng or optware-ng. I had same problem as you and I tried entware-ng and it cleaned out my nvram completely removing all router configuration. So I had to re-install dd-wrt, but in the end turned out to be a good thing because my 2 year old kong DDwrt on wndr4500 it appears had several updates including a good working main branch 3.0 ddwrt which I did install and is now working good and installed entware-ng fresh and all is good now.
entware-ng is easier to install compared to optware-ng using wiki in the entware-ng site but optware-ng might have better packages supported from briefly looking.
I also heard about ddware which is the optware "spinoff" for ddwrt but could not find it anywhere.

So this is the page for Entware that you use, right?

https://github.com/Entware-ng/Entware-ng/wiki

My E4200V1 is working fine now with DD-WRT v3.0-r29739 mega (05/19/16) installed but I don't have the hard drive on the USB port sorted out yet. I want to get that going so I can use it for sharing some password protected up and downloads with friends.

And the Install on DD-WRT link should be all I need to get it going, right?

https://github.com/Entware-ng/Entware-ng/wiki/Install-on-DD-WRT

After messing about with the OTRW and OTRW2 installs some do you think I need to reinstall DD-WRT first to get a clean start?

Jack

@jackerbes: yes that is the link I used.
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r30731 giga (a little later than the one you mention) on WNDR4500 is what I am using and appears stable so far (Wifi signal not the best, but maybe some tweaking to settings will make it better). Yes I do have USB HDD setup as well and works good. Note that I used USB flash for entware on USB port 1 and USB HDD for sharing on USB port 2 since that appears to be what they recommend.
I would suggest start with fresh DDWRT install and NVRAM clean from GUI before installing entware-ng instead of writing over optware/existing DDWRT. I know it is tedious if you have lot of configuration like I did including several MACs and static leases which you might want to save (search for script to put them back makes it a bit easier after new install).

EDIT: Fixed it... mostly. Apparently the path "/jffs/tmp/ipk" was not prepped and so needed to create it manually.

However the first two are successful but the last one, backports, is a 404 error and does not exist. I cannot install the packages I need such as the pre-reqs for lighttpd web server without the backports list. Traversing the path reveals that "Backports/RC5" is gone and replaced with "Backports/0.9". What can I do at this point to fix the ipkg download paths?

I've tried the MIPSel versions of both Entware-NG and Optware-NG only to find they fail on trying to update the package lists. What am I doing wrong here? I've never had this issue with OTRW...Confused

Small bump in hopes someone happens to have a clean [or otherwise] copy of their opt folder that can be gzipped of either OTRW or OTRW2.

Seems that using the 'otrw by hand' methods including the mipsel entware/optware-ng aren't working out for me at all. Packages won't install proper such as stating not installed despite it successfully unpacking and configuring. Along with opkg stating 'illegal instruction' attempting to use it. All I'm trying to do is get lighttpd and php installed.

Just in case this helps anyone, here is where I found dd-ware:

https://code.google.com/archive/p/dd-ware/source/default/source

In order to get it installed, I downloaded it to my own internal web server, used a text editor to parse through and change all the dd-ware.googlecode.com URLs to my URL, ran the wget command with my URL and it installed fine. Obviously it's a bit old, but the two things I'm using it for (samba and lighttpd) are working well.

Like another user I lost the Optware configuration on my router when it got damaged by a power problem and it also killed the attached backup flash drive so I can't easily restore to another router. So much for being prepared!
I quickly got another router up and running but without Optware but when I try to download (wget) the prep_optware in the tutorial (as I've done a couple of times before) its not available.. digging around I've found others referring to a google code location for dd-ware but that is now also cleaned out..

Router is an Asus WL500gP with v24-sp2 (08/07/10) mega - build 14896.

I see references to optware-ng but I'm thinking its not compatable with my router so I'm a bit lost.

Do any know about updated respositories for the old Optware or a method to get it back.

Thanks, Chris

Your router is broadcom chipset and one of optware-ng or entware-ng should be compatible for sure. I would suggest using one of these because they are the ones that are supported with updates etc and relatively easy to insatall. dd-ware link has also been posted above, but will involve some work to get it installed and also not sure of its support. The -ng are both actively supported. Just google for them and you will see.

I also would be so glad if someone could help me out with the optware2-files, as I had to reformat my stick. Outdated versions are no problem, but I need a working perl (for fhem.de) and with the other packages andf also manual installation I don't get that somehow and I have no deeper knowledge to solve this.

Please...

Hi guys! I'm trying to install entware on my usb stick. I'm using RT-N18U and ddwrt r30880. If I use install.sh from git, I will get opkg: permission denied. Please, let me know if you need more information. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong here. Thanks.

Anybody come across this or know how to fix it? all use it for is as a simple webserver via lighhtpd but i don;t have time to switch it to something else.

I love Belkin F5D8235-4 v2, but I decided to somehow put open-wrt and eventually forcibly erased the entire bootloader now it does not show any signs of life. 1) Where to get the loader to flash through telnet 2) how to sew the loader if there is no jtag? P. s sorry for my English
