Kong's DD-WRT test build 33010M - 2017/08/09 has been released: http://www.desipro.de/ddwrt/K3-AC-IPQ806X/

Your reports for Atheros units are greatly appreciated !

This build thread is for reporting successes and problem with loading this experimental test build. This is important info for developers and users. Always state your hardware and SPECIFIC build (e.g. 29440_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv64k.bin). Do not ask questions about your specific router or how to configure it in this thread; create your own thread to discuss any specific problems you have or need resolved. Please also do not respond to such questions. This thread is to report info, not to seek it. Posts that do not add to understanding this build will be deleted. Make sure you know how to flash properly and the risk before using this build. It is important to adhere to these requirements, to keep this thread from becoming impossibly long and useless. If you don't know what build to flash and how to flash properly and have a means of recovery if things should go wrong, do NOT flash this experimental test build.

Don't forget about the r9000 and certainly don't forget about the Great Linksys EA8500 Razz

They are actually a couple flavors of the Kong r33010M floating around.
Latest being 2017/08/09 release

Well the only part that I got incorrect was the content of the post itself. The title of the post was ok. I have made the edit. The issue with defining the post to model and such is that it seems more general since I was matching the Atheros section header. I did make an initial edit but going to change it back to Atheros.

Been using this firmware since it came out. One thing that I had a hard time with this new unit is getting my laptop to connect to anything over 400 stable. Now that I got it, I noticed that when a few users are using the router, my connection slows to a crawl and sometimes times out. When just one single user, everything is ok. I thought it was a beam forming issue, then a channel issue. I followed the Atheros settings page and still a little perplexed. Any ideas?

I have my R7000 up and running at my new place with SFE on and its been stable so far with no connection issues like what I am getting with the R7800.

Well this made my day. Seeing a Kong build for my bookmarked page for Kong's R9000 firmware's.

I'll re edit shortly with my results if it's stable. I'll be flashing from Brainslayers latest build 8/3/2017. Cheers.

Don't waste your time, in Atheros section no one gives a f..ck about Kong new build thread, as you can see on this one, and the previous one created by me. But hey! thanks for trying Smile

Is there a better place to go to discuss Kong builds for the R7800? I have one on the way and am trying to get up to speed after having been on the Linksys WRT series for about a year.

Xeon,

I know people don't give a hoot but that doesn't mean I don't and the other poster doesn't either. The big thread for all intent and purposes may be just as useless as these but at least I care enough to start a separate thread for the 2 people who care. At least I can personally talk about my experience for the R7800 which at this time has not been as pleasant as my R7000 but I know one day its coming.

As you can see from my previous post that really no one posts in the Atheros section anyways. The R7800 has been the most difficult router to get to a decent satisfactory stage using DD-WRT firmware. And I have used DDWRT on many routers that I have owned over the years. Not trying to be defiant, but I will make a post for the R7800 builds that I install knowing that I have at least one person who cares about the content!

well, so far all discussions for R7800 are in the main post for it....so there is no need for a separate post every time....
as far my R7800...nope i don't have any problems with it nor im chasing max speeds... so far i haven't seen any max speeds in mass utilisation (1Gbit) and i know 5Ghz radio are a bit touchy and quite picky on client side, so there is no ultimate wi-fi client...and those advertised speeds are very hypothetical......
Anyway big thanks to Kong and BS for the great job !!

Yeah, that's true, who would ever want to search a specific build thread to have all feedback in the same place related to a specific build? ...oh wait..

Well crap, this is exactly the type of situation I was trying to avoid by ordering an R7800. I've been dealing with the same types of issues with my Linksys WRT1900ACv1 (garbage Marvell chip) and decided on the R7800 after reading good comments from <Kong> about the Netgear model. I guess he meant the R7000 and not the R7800 Crying or Very sad

I feel you man. I did the same thing as some of the posters posed it as the similar routers but faster. Now that I have it, I know its a work in progress. I got my r7000 running with gigabit internet now which makes me scratch my head on why I bought the R7800 in the first place. I am not complaining, just reporting on the separate threads. Its odd that the same website but different forum has such different views on how builds should be posted. I mean my viewpoint is if no one is reading or monitoring the Atheros forum anyways, then who care if I post a separate thread or not. I have looked through the 80+ pages of the R7800 and just speaking from personal experience, its not easy to navigate through that much information even with the search feature.
