Amazon prime video and music will not play through Fire TV when connected to nordvpn. I use an R7000 Nighthawk router with open vpn. I want to secure my web traffic but want to also use these services. Any way to allow Amazon traffic to bypass the vpn? I also use a sonicwall in place of the router provided by Frontier (formerly Verizon FIOS)
1st post but maybe I can help and contribute to the forum as it has to me. I'm sure someone with more knowledge would have chimed in by now. Short answer is no. I believe you would need to set up dual routers, or disable OpenVPN client in dd-wrt settings to run Amazon or Netflix on Fire TV. They don't like VPN's (at least NordVPN). I use a WRT1900ac as my primary router and R7000 as secondary running OpenVPN client (NordVPN). It's real easy to just switch wireless networks in settings on Fire TV between the two.

Another possibilty is to use Policy Based Routing, With PBR you specify which clients (by IP address) are using the VPN.
e.g. you could enter a range of 192.168.1.100-150 (with CIDR notation) in the PBR field of your OpenVPN client and then all these IP addresses are routed through the VPN, every other IP addresses are routed through your ISP.
So if you give your TV a static lease of 192.168.1.99 this will be routed through your ISP and not through the VPN.
