Status: OK
Reset: YES (nvram erase was done before and after)
Errors: After 3 days (June 6th) reboots 2 times a day

Normal setup, script to wake on lan for Plex and port forwarding setup for both.
This and previous doing the same thing. Just reboots and back in a few minutes or front Netgear lights blink on and off 3 to 4 times a day now. Did a complete Netgear firmware and then the latest dd-wrt kongac ver (r32170M) entered all manually. All was good for 3 days then back to rebooting on its own.
Note: I have 4 r6300v2 routers that i change when newer firware is out so no matter which unit same results.

Kong has a June 11 release of build 32170M that I'm using (over 44 hours) now. I too had problems with the June 3 TEST build 32170M but within 3 hours.

The 3rd and 10th were giving me problems while the 11th has been stable so far.

Well as I have read all these posts I can now say as of right now 2 hours up without issue or rebooting that the build 32170M dated June 11th has solved all issues that was occurring with my netgear r6300v2 router.

I was running June 3rd firmware. Reinstalled from scratch starting with Netgear original firmware, upgraded firmware with dd wrt 32170M 6-11-17, telnet in using putty, erase nvram, entered my minor setup (port forwarding for plex server, script to wol for waking up server from outside network, upnp on, date and time) Will report more after 24 hour up time

Thanks to all for their input and Kong please keep up the great work

R7000: uncommanded reboot last night after about 10 days uptime, cause unknown. After the reboot, getting a weird log message I never ever had before:

Code:

Jun 16 05:23:36 Netgear_R7000 dnsmasq-dhcp: not giving name roku-2.local to the DHCP lease of 192.168.0.183 because the name exists in /etc/hosts with address 192.168.0.114

Something screwy happening with IP assignment. IP's above .160 are going through VPN, the roku at .114 does not. Roku should not be getting .183 IP, seems that the VPN policy based routing is interfering with static IP's.

Hi Kong, what about country like Italy where your BOOTSTRAP is blacklisted? Entware, etc are the only one option to get usefull software on our router...

you can setup VPN connection on your router and bootstrap will be done

Hi, All –

I have a Asus RT-AC66U that fails to upgrade to past r31690. I'm attempting to upgrade via the web UI. I've been running on this build train and updating semi-regularly for several years now, and this is the first time I've been unable to make headway.

Router Model: Asus RT-AC66U
Firmware Version: DD-WRT v3.0-r31690 giga (03/17/17) (Downloaded from ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com//betas/2017/03-17-2017-r31690)
Kernel Version: Linux 3.10.105 #14122 Fri Mar 17 11:28:58 CET 2017 mips

Overall, though, my DD-WRT-fu is pretty limited, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Just a quick question: I have a Netgear r7000 and this build. I started experimenting with softether vpn to substitute my current openvpn server on the router. I successfully set-up it and I can connect successfully through l2tp/ipsec and softether own protocol (disabled others protocols as I don't need them). There is only one thing that keeps me sceptical: when I start the server the cpu load goes always >1.20 and the cpu load bar on the status page is always ~60% and I'm talking about idle state with no clients connected. Is this normal? I started migrating from openvpn because I thought that softether was faster, but if even in idle I get such high cpu usage, I assume that also the throughput will be lower than openvpn, right? Please @<Kong> or someone else with experience can you help me figuring that out? Thanks in advance.
Also: why someone says that bootstrap isn't available in Italy? I used it without problems here to setup opkg...

Hello All,

I might have found an iptables bug or the command that previously worked has stopped because of chcnages made by the developers. If its not a bug I'll post elsewhere for help.

I'm trying to block a nasty spammer. My setup is simple - Ports are being forwarded to a server on my internal subnet. The DDWRT gateway has a static IP from my ISP, and the default Firewall settings are enabled, along with a handfull of forwarded TCP/UDP ports to an internal IP (server). This is accomplished with the NAT/Port Forwarding tabs.

I'm using the following command to drop traffic comming from the spammers IP, but traffic gets throug and spam is still hitting my mail server. I might also add this woked awhile back with out issues. here's adnother post I made a year ago. http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1013107

The commands:

Code:

iptables -I INPUT -s 173.82.162.196 -j DROP
iptables -I FORWARD -s 173.82.162.196 -j DROP

Spammer (botnet) is comming from a few IP's but no need to post them all.

When I check iptables the pkts coutn remains at zero. I'm using this to check:

Code:
iptables --line-numbers -vnL INPUT && iptables --line-numbers -vnL FORWARD

Anyone know if this might be a bug or my iptables command is just the wrong?

Regards,

Mrengles

I still have the issue that after a certain amount of time the webinterface is not responding anymore. After rebooting the device it is working fine again. "stopservice httpd" and "startservice httpd" does not help to get it back working.

Anything I could provide to help this to be sorted out?

ME TOO Smile

I SSH / telnet into the router and KILL the HTTP process:

Code:
ps |grep HTTP

Find the process ID then:

Code:
kill -9 <proc ID>

THEN:

Code:
startservice httpd

If you want you can check if the new HTTP process has started:

Code:
ps |grep HTTP

Hope this helps.

Auto-updating on my R7000 since the release of auto-update.

Working perfectly fine here with 3x LAN+ 2x Wifi + NAS on USB Port. With a total of ~10 devices connected.

Just one thing still missing:
The option to choose a 2nd dnscrypt resolver as backup. Because dnscrypt.eu and d0wn are unreliable and often offline. So we could put a reliable dnscrypt resolver (which might not be as fast but is more reliable) as backup.

This thread is about kong builds. Your router hasn't been supported by kong in years.

Router: Buffalo WZR-1750DHP

Previous: DD-WRT v3.0-r31980M kongac (05/11/17)
Kernel: Linux 4.4.70 #332 SMP Sat Jun 3 11:22:27 CEST 2017 armv7l
Status: Working aside from intermittent latency spikes
Reset: No
Errors: None in logs
Uptime: 1 Day

Setup:
- WAN: DHCP
- IPv4 only
- DDNS (no-ip.org)
- Wireless: Regulatory Domain = UNITED_STATES; wl0, AP, AC/N Mixed, VHT80, lower/lower. Implicit Beamforming; wl1, AP, N-Only, 20MHz
- Port Forwarding (only for ARD at this point); netmask forwarding through iptables
- QoS (a few ports, mostly for the 2 netmasks specified in iptables)
- Westwood TCP congestion control.
- Syslogd/klogd with remote server on a laptop on the LAN to monitor in real-time.

Very basic setup. I'm still getting lag spikes over ethernet while playing *any* game. The issue is isolated to this router; if I plug the computer directly into the modem I experience no lag spikes in-game. The lag spikes last for seconds at a time and are upward of 999ms. Syslog doesn't show anything out of the ordinary when the lag spikes occur.

The OOM error the kernel was throwing seems to have disappeared again. It wasn't present in 31830M, appeared again in 31980M. I'll keep this post updated because it seems that it only appears after a few days of uptime.

EDIT:
I'm also concerned that the last couple builds, including this one, seem to maintain high load averages. While network traffic seems consistently low and stable, the load average fluctuates between .10 to .33 or so.

And the temperature, again, without very much load on the device, hovers around 78C. Looking through this thread, the average temp of an R7000 seems to be 55C or so. That's a HUGE difference in temp.

I just upgraded to the stable 32170M build and now the CPU is running hotter (between 80-86C) and showing almost constant .10-.18 load while only 1 computer is connected and sending traffic; incidentally, that computer is doing nothing but using Chrome to access this forum.

Is Buffalo WZR-1750DHP still supported by Kong? It seems as though the majority of people posting are using Netgear R7000 routers. I searched for this router specifically to run DD-WRT, but I haven't been able to get decent performance out of it to date. The lag spikes during gaming exist only when using the router (not if I connect directly to the modem) and it just *seems* slower than my old Netgear WNDR3700. Yes, it's anecdotal, but I didn't have these persistent issues on the WNDR3700.

^---- genuine question. I'm not trying to be snarky or belligerent.

The reason why Netgear R7000's chipset temperature is much lower than Buffalo WZR-1750DHP's is due to the heat-sink design difference. On R7000, the bottom cover seems a alumium heat-spreader. But it is a plastic cover on 1750DHP.

My unit also runs at 86 ~ 90 degrees during the summer time w/o overheated issue while the room temperature is around 30 ~ 35 degrees. It should be still within the chipset's maximum thermal design like 100 ~ 105 degrees.
