In my Asus RT-N18U, this action (Disable -> Apply -> Enable) caused DD-WRT to reboot. USB Core remained Disabled after reboot. Note that I didn't reset data during the firmware upgrade from 31825 to 31899.
BTW, the change log mentioned a ticket related to Samba.
Update: Problem solved
After you clicked "Enable" in USB Core, **BEFORE** hitting Apply Settings, you needed to disable USB Storage and USB Printer. After USB core was enabled, you could then enable USB Storage & USB Printer.
Suggestion to user interface changes:
Whenever someone disable USB Core, the interface should auto-magically disable USB Storage, USB Printer and USB over IP.
I tried as you suggested....no go. Could not connect to NAS USB stick. Here is what I got after I clicked Apply. I had to reboot to get back to normal...but still no NAS support until I click Apply on the NAS tab.

61 Mbps across WAN best I got -- 55 ~ 58 steady
nothing extra confg but restricted guest on wl0.1
It is good to know you can now update the E1200v2 k3x to K3x... a year ago it
would always put it in brick mode -
EDIT:
Can get 55 wireless in 'Client' mode.
If use Restore Factory Defaults thru GUI or use Reset button let it fully reboot and then you will have to
pull power for approx 20 seconds so LAN ports will reset and you will again have wired access ......some things never change

Should you try a data reset? Did you?
Anyway, I know it's troublesome to setup everything again. _________________ Router: Asus RT-N18U (rev. A1)

1) Radio LEDs on the front side not working
2) I had huge problems making the wireless settings stick.

I entered my data and clicked on my preferred options as usual but when I hit "Save" + "Apply Settings", the page would reset to defaults. I had to re-enter my config and save about 10-12 times until everything was finally set up correctly. _________________ Buffalo WZR-1166DHP-EU
