dont have wr740nv6_tp_recovery.bin file so can't do it
its not about having it
you have it
just rename the Bin to wr740nv6_tp_recovery.bin
and that means you will use Recovery mode to load the Bin

I just got the 740N (unfortunately v6). The modified version of DD-WRT firmware from this thread shows Router Model: WR841ND v11 when flashed onto the 740N v6 device.
The router is now not able to use OpenVPN, which it originally should be, if I recall correctly. It just shows PPTP Server and PPTP Client as VPN options, but on the Help Bar it shows OpenVPN descriptions... Kind of weird. Any idea if there's going to be a "real" beta version of dd-wrt (that shows up here: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2016/ ) for the v6 version of this router? I need OpenVPN support on my router ..I bought the 740N instead of the 841ND explicitly because I needed OpenVPN, but now I'm stuck with the 841ND firmware

you are not stuck, use webrevert for WR841ND v11 once back to TL use 741 V6 firmware to update, and you are back _________________ TP-Link: TL-WR741ND V4

I did read the topic but at Downloads › betas › 2017 › 05-02-2017-r31924 there is no directory for tplink_tl-wr740nv6 but only for tplink_tl-wr740nv5! And that is my question from which directory i have to download the new firmware, from tplink_tl-wr841ndv11 or from tplink_tl-wr740nv5 which is closest to tplink_tl-wr740nv6!

Again, if you update with V5 you might brick it, you don't have a V5
You don't have a V6 neither anymore, now you are 841 V11
Why bother updating, if all works well _________________ TP-Link: TL-WR741ND V4

So i get your point, what ever i have to do with the router from now on is from directory tplink_tl-wr841ndv11. My answer to your question

is that when i was younger i had the same way of thinking do not touch what ever worked ok. But as i grew older i changed my way of thinking. If you do not mess with things you do not learn! So if no one has updated to this version betas › 2017 › 05-02-2017-r31924 i will do it and tell you if it worked! _________________ "Paranoia is the belief in a hidden order behind the visible."
